Had enough of my Polo now so I'm thinking of putting it up for sale soon as I've started down another German car path (BMW).

Anyway my Polo and its history.

VW Polo R28 XCK was registered on 20/03/1998 and has had 3 former keepers before me.

In 2007 it was bought by a middle age woman near blackpool and used for a run about pretty much. Her husband "maintained" the car during the time they had it but only used substandard parts. They however forgot to tell me this.

Anyway when I bought the car in January 2009 it has one or two little niggles but it was cheap so I bought it.

The car ran fine(ish) until around May this year when a plug in the thermostat housing worked its way loose and it lost all water, overheating the engine and warping the head.

I spent almost £600 getting this sorted for it only to pop its headgasket after the Polo Show this year.

So it is now had a replacement engine fitted from my old black valver. A known good working engine which has only ever been serviced by VW...until I got it in 2008 when I serviced it but with VW recommended parts.

The car shell itself has only 78,000 miles on it.

The engine has 137,000 miles on it (the clocks in the car reflect the engine milage not the shell milage)

The gearbox has 78,000 miles on it and doesn't make a sound and still feels tight.

Engine:

1.4 16v AFH unit with 137,000 miles as stated.

Was rolling roaded in its old car at 102bhp standard with a printout to prove this.

Has 78,000mile gearbox fitted but will come with spare 137,000mile box that had that stupid chocolate box problem upgrade at 35,000 miles.

Has a BMC CDA filter with cold air feed.

TA Technix 4 branch manifold and de-cat fitted to a phil j custom 1 box stainless system.

Will be sold with standard manifold and cat for MOT purposes.

Timing belt was done at 110,000 miles.

Will be fully serviced before sold.

Exterior:

The shell is pretty good for an 11 year old 6n.

Worst points are the laquer peel on the roof and the slight bubbling happening under the paint on the drivers side front wing.

I had both sills and bumpers and other scabby bits sprayed just before the polo show so it looks mint.

Boot is fitted with a VW Zender Concept spoiler which I think is quite rare.

The car is fitted with TA Technix coilovers which are about 12,000 miles old.

Lowered approximately 100mil at the front and 90mil at the rear.

The car just now sits on polished 14" Le Castellets which will all be wrapped in nearly new Yokohama A539 185/50/14 Tyres.

Interior:

The interior of the car is completely standard apart from the Sony Xplod CD player and the CD changer in the boot which is not connected haha.

None and I mean absolutely no rips, tears, burns, stains or anything is on the interiour it is as mint as anything including all the seat bolsters etc.

Think thats almost it about the car, I've been as honest as I can be.

It is a fun car to drive and with its new engine should be quick and reliable too.

The car will have 12month test on it before its sold and I think the tax is up in December.

This is just a feeler for now but I am looking for offers around the £2200 mark.

Can be negotiable and there is the choice of another set of wheels on the car depending on your taste and offer.

sorry mate mileage is a bit of a concern for me so what does th'engine run like?

Milage means sod all mate.

The original engine has given up the ghost after less than 80k but the engine thats in it now has done just 20k short of double that. Its a beautiful engine, runs sweet as. Starts on the button and has no nasty noises, its a more pokey engine than the original unit, the car just fucks off now when you put the foot down.

The engine has just had a service too and the timing belt is only 20k old.

But really the car needs to be seen and driven to be appreciated.

Your entitled to your opinion but what makes you say that?

Its not some fully euro'd Polo with leather and massivly wide wheels and heaps of smoothing so I'm not asking upwards of £3k for it.

On the other hand its not a standard everyday mk4 16v that has just stood the test of time better than others so I'm not asking £1300-£1800 for it.

I'm asking for £2000, for a car that has cost me between £4-£5k since I bought it because it was one of the above, a standard mk4 which had just stood the test of time slightly better than the others. Now its a Polo that will happily last years with just regular servicing and care...or it can be taken to the next stage of modding by someone else. So in my eyes £2000 is a good price.

Just had a new battery, thermostat and temp sender fitted at the weekend.

This is worth every penny, camped with these guys at the poloshow and when having a look around it i couldnt find anything bad!

Id pay the tad extra to know i was getting a minter boys and girls!!
