G40 Wont start, checked all areas and need advice!

Featured Replies

Drove to work last night, everything ok and turned her off got out. First thing this morning she wont start (does this intermittently but starts up usually after fettling with the king lead)

She will turn over the starter, all belts turning and looking good to go, just no spark or fuel?

Tried everything, checked all connectors, plugs, leads, connection to coilpack, battery terminal connections, dizzy rotor arm is spinning, fuel in the tank. The king HT lead from the coilpack to the centre of the dizzy might be giving up, its reasonably new but like i said it was the route of the problem before but now it just wont do anything.

What else can i try? I'm heading off to the scrappers tomorrow to look for bits, are the leads and coilpacks similar for all Mk3's or are they G40 specific??

Thanks people.

leads and coil are the same on all mk3 polos. I'd just buy new, they aren't that expensive from GSF or ECP, scrapyard ones are likely to be pretty knackered.

Does that sound like a likely source to the problem though? I've been thinking about upgrading the coil anyways as it bogs down sometimes

Been having the exact same problem, but mine has got worse and worse.. Could be the hall sender in the distributor aswell i heard?
