The new fitted engine has a fully rebuilt head with receipts, every single aspect of the car has been checked over thoroughly by the garage who did the work to the car. the bottom end is in good condition, the head looks like new (I have photos of the head as it was fitted) and all the valves have been reseated, also fitted with 4 new exhaust valves. The head was also faced slightly to give it a perfect flat surface. There were no cracks at all in the head nor the engine block. The block was fully cleaned and painted, the clutch was checked and turned out to be nearly new, everything on the engine was checked over thoroughly. The electronics and wiring have been tidied and some re routed for safety reasons. After the purchase of the car, I have spent over £1500 to get it into to this condition where everything is fine with the car. The engine now runs beautifully, sounds amazing, and boosts very well. The intercooler is now mounted and not left hanging down on the boost pipes. There will be receipts to prove the work done to the car by the garage and the engine rebuilders.

The reason I am selling is quite a sad one, as I do love the look and sound to the car. I have spent far more money than I have, having to lend from parents and friends to fix the car so I can no longer afford to insure it. Ill buy something cheap for the time being and pay out all the debt.

did the original engine melt a piston? Because that's not going to have been anything to do with timing being a tooth out.

Actually the engine did melt a piston, and yes it was because it was a tooth out as well as some other factors. We had engine specialists check over the old engine to find the reason why it was burnt. they said it was something that had been happening for a while (2-3 months) and finally let go after I had just bought the car.

The engine's current mileage is approx 70k. when the head was off we have had the mechanic check over the bottom end and he said there was no wear on the bores and the hone marks were still visible.

I dont thihk you are being fair blaming the previous owner. timing being a tooth out wont cause a metled piston, pistons melt in g40s because of fuelling issues, what are these "other factors" you mention? I'm not saying the car is anything less than fine now as you are selling it but I don't think you can blame the problems on the previous owner. How do you know for definite that the timing belt didn't jump a tooth as a result of the engine damage?

Also, have you had it remapped since putting the smaller g40 injectors back in?

I am trying to sell this car to pay my way back through university and pay off some of the people who I owe money to, due to having to spend out such an obscene ammount of money in order to get the car into a condition where it would be drivable. I have not yet had the map altered/chip changed to one which would suit the g40 injectors better, but I will be sure to get it done early next week, or I would alter the price of the car accordingly for the prospective purchaser.

This is a 'for sale' thread of a working car, this is not a thread for people to slander other peoples repuations. The person who I bought the car off decided to be funny and alter the pictures of the car on his photobook, to what some people might of seen on here or club polo.

I would like to hesitiate a guess that if you bought a car for £3000+ and then found for it to break down just 40 miles from where you bought it, and have to spend out a further £1500+ to repair the car, money which you didnt have, that you would be quite upset also. things came to light when the original engine was being stripped - loose headbolts and exhaust studs, leaking water matrix 'patched up'. So yes it was partially my fault for buying the car, but all of the things that went wrong were hidden away.

Put the G60 injectors back in before you melt another piston.

If you are using G40 injectors on a map for G60 injectors, your engine get around 25% too little fuel all over.

This car will come with larger injectors required for the current map. It is being left garaged untill the new injectors arrive.

I'm open to offers on the car, and px's are welcome for smaller engined and standard vehicles.

There's no hard feelings here, we're just giving a few pointers, so that the new owner does not have the same problems dcc had, so the new owner can enjoy these fun cars just like they should be enjoyed
