How does the 16v head work with the py bottom end? E.g compression ratio and how have you arranged cambelt tension?

Just mount it and use pistons from an HH engine. The head has been modified to be plug & play

i didnt think it was possible to use a 16 valve head on a g40. i would love to know how this was done as i thought the water and oil gallerys did not match up ??????

yeah i was under the same impression.....

Originally they don't match up, but it depends on the head you use and non wether you know what you are doing that makes everything work. Don't ask me for the details, it was done by a G40/G60 specialist not me..

I thought they did match up? Any pics of what work has been done? Pics of the face of the head?

Also do you have pistons from a hh engine?

originally they don't match up, it's close but no perfect match.

I will go and make a few pictures in a few minutes and then I'll post them..

No I don't have pistons.

I can have them custom made for you if you want.

Here are the best pictures I could take with my crappy camera..

Whats been modified? I cant find a pic to compare it to...

i really couldn't tell you. i gave that guy a stock head and he returned it to me when it was modified :p

well you arent going to sell it if you dont know what he did, and your being very vague, its just a standard 16v head to everyone else looking

Well I can't tell more than I know. I'm not an engineer so to me everything looks the same either way. The fact remains that a specialist has modified the head.

just as a help to everyone - here is the bottom of a G40 Cylinder head

I hope this will help anyone who is interested, remember to stick by the forum rules people!

Was more after a pic of a standard afh 16v head to compare it to. That way i could guess whats been modified

i think alot of the g40 guys including me would be very interested in knowing how this has been done do you have the name of the people that done it for you??? if i knew this would work i would be very interested in it but i was under the impression that it was not possible to do this.

I have sent him a mail. I remind you I'm dutch so keep that in mind when I tell you that he said the water channels (??) have been modified and he changed the valves to handle more Horsepower and a few other things I can't translate properly.. this was my best english so forgive me any mistakes. Hopefully this clears up a few things

hi thanks yes this does help in clearing this up i wonder what valves he used g40 exhaust valves maybe?

did you ever have this running on your g40?

sorry for all the questions but this really is very interesting

steven

I'm afraid I never got to it.. My girl got pregnantfor the second time a few weeks after that so I have to buy a station wagon now so I'm selling my Polo.. With my engine seyup now he assured me that 240/250 BHP is definetily possible...

hi thanks yes this does help in clearing this up i wonder what valves he used g40 exhaust valves maybe?

g40 exhaust valves wont fit. I don't see why you couldn't use thr valves that are in it already, the g40 8v big valve head conversions don't have sodium filled exhaust valves like standard g40 heads do and they manage OK, all about getting the mapping right.

I suspect the modification to that head is that it's had a waterway welded up, you can see it in the bottom left of this pic:

ck1.JPG

which is required to fit one of these heads to a g40 bottom end as far as I'm aware.

I guess he changed the valves because I told him it had to stay in one piece at 240-250 BHP

It's still for sale people! ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Would this head work on a gt block?

I believe so. I have heard about G40 heads on AAV and NZ engines so it must work with a GK engine too..
