my car got broken in to on friday night

Featured Replies

i parked my car up on friday as i allways do for work just off osborns rd in jesmond, newcastle (i work at osborns bar)

finsihed at about 1130pm stared walking up to my car and saw a cop car packed in front of it and didnt think much of it as they were talking to a womon on her drive.

as i got closer to it the coppers started to look at me and when i got close to my car one copper said "is this yours?" i said "yer why whats up?"

"its been broken in to"

i was so shoked, nothing like this has happend to me before.

they had bent the pasangers door down at the top and un locked it, compleatly fucked the steering collum, wireing loom and clocks and steering lock. not happy

anyway the coppers said i can get some stuff out of it but try not to tuch any thing?

i just left it.

they didnt tell me that the car was gonna get lifted to a compound they only said that soco were gonna come out to it in the morning to finger print it.

rang the police in the morn to see if i could go and get it and was told that it was in a compound in wide open and i could go and get it when soco were done with it. rang up the compound to find out when i could get it, they said they dont release cars on the weekend evenless happy

went to the cop shop to find out what was going on, got told there i could go and get some stuff out as soco were done with it. left the police staiton rang up the compound, they said i coulnt get anything out of it, went back in to the cop shop really anoyed this time, saw the same copper who rang up the compound and they suddleny chabged there mind, funny that.

got there got my stuff and was told there was a £150 release fee to pay, i allmost fucking went mental :evil:

rang up the police again and said whos paying this fee? i dint know my car was gonna get recoverd and i didnt want it to be either, I'm still waiting on the out come. and the cops are saying i wont be able to drive it away so i might have to get aa cover or somert to get it home.

worst weekend ever :cry::cry::cry:

sorry for the long rant

(sorry bout the spelling)

thats alode of shit! id love to tell them where to go with a 150 release fee!

i bet you could repair all of the damage with scrappy parts for alot less that that! and now youve got to get it home too???

unlucky dude i feel for you

I wouldn't pay either! It's not as though it's illegal (no tax or insurance). I'd argue the toss too stating that it was their choice to put it there and not yours. Should they not listen, contact the top cop for your area and discuss it with them as they have to look into it as a matter of course.

Grab a new door and ignition parts from a scrappy.

Good luck to you.

That's so harsh! You rung your insurance company yet?

 shit man !!! now thats propa fucked.....feel for you dude  I was gonna text you saying u wanna meet up aswell

that's a nightmare, hope it all goes well dude.

Vee dubs scrappy's got a couple mk3 coupe's in if it's any use to you?

That's bad times mate :( Hope you get your car back without paying that stupid price.

Martin.

Ahh unlucky man..

That really is unbelievable that they want to charge YOU!! They should find the idiot who tried to steal it and charge them :x

Sorry to hear about this dude. Can insurance re-imburse the release fee to you?

i started reading this post and i knew there was going to be that kick in the teeth at the end!

Id ring up citizens advice, if they told you they had to take your car, with no choice then surely they are at fault, most cops i have delt with when something like this happens, push you the other way of "do you really want soco to come out? they wont get anything"

another notch in the "cops are wankers" slate

my landlord works for citizens advice so rang him to ask what the crack was and he said the saim as my dad, that i shouldnt have to pay it as i resucred the car and wasnt told it was gonna get lifted away.

spoke to a inspector today as I'm wanting to make a complant about all this and she said I'm gonna have to wait to thurs day to find out if i they will pay for because the copper who was there when it got lifted is off to then :x

but she said they will pay the storage fees till then.

if i have to end up paying it I'm gonna see a solicter about it.

if i go through the insurance ill still have to pay £100 for the excess and lose my no clames unless the cops find out who did it and take them to court, then my insurance will get the money off them (however unlikley that is)

so to sum up I've just had a good hard kick in the balls for no reason

rang the compound where the car is this morning they said they hadnt got anything from the police, so i rang the police up and now they are unsure whos gonna pay for it again :x:x

I'm putting in a formal complant about it now as its fully taking the piss

If the police need to take your car to a compound, you shouldn't have to pay a release fee. When mine was in an accident, it was in a compound for two weeks and I didn't have to pay anything.

(I would have got your stuff out of the car though. Mine managed to get a flat tyre and all the CD's were swiped out of my bootchanger!!)

That's ridiculous... and you've now been carless for a week :(

and I bet his work has suffered because he couldn't get there one time too. . . . . cough cough cry out and get more for 'loss of earnings' cough.

sounds very similar to when my car was impounded :/

the cops are such a waste of time & dont give a fuck

i couldnt get mine for over a week because the copper who took the car away went off duty for a few days & no one else was authorized to let me know if it passed a vosa test

& i was charged the 150 & i had to arrange my own trailer home

just make sure the cops have contacted the impound otherwise your jsut going to get messed around again

hope you get it sorted dude

same thing here, the copper went off for a few days and no one else knew what was going on.

should all be sorted on monday, just need to fix it :-(

nightmare mate... glad your getting sorted tho.

Check out Sunderland Metal Company (0191 5108868) just off Alaxander Bridge in makem land. They always have a couple of Polos in and they are cheap as chips. Dunno crack with keys etc if you need a barrel, but i always go there for bits.

That's fucking shit mate

got it back :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

i didnt have to pay either which i glad about as the storage charges were £20 a day and it had been in for 8 days!

got the aa out to look over it and he rewired it so it works off the key now, just need some new closks and a colloum and the plastic around the colloum.

cops are time wasting loosers :x

Glad to hear you've got it back, load of messing about again by police and (presumably) local council, one doesn't know what the others doing...

Nevermind, least you've got it back, hope you get sorted soon

bloody hell i hope mine never gets broken into... next paypacket and I'm gettin an alarm/imobilisor...

i just thought too... i wouldnt go near insurance about this!!! they would lkely write it off for the door damage alone. i bought a mk3cl with the same problem but no internal damage as a cat c write off!!!

yer my first polo was a cat c write off for a bent door!

i not gonna go through my insurance, they want $100, and ill lose my no clams :-(
