Wow, page 7

Progress......Started buying new silicone pipe to replace the bits currently in use. just need to whip the charger to intercooler pipe and get it measured.

The aquamist kit is in temporarily at the mo whilst i work everything out but I've managed to keep most of it hidden.

Got some pics on my phone so need to get them off.

Next.........Remap :) Got the money at last :)

Really hope the remap sorts the rough edges for you dude. Who are you taking it too?

I think there's a vacuum leak so gotta have a good look.

I've sent a PM to Andy & Yoof at PPP and contacted G-werks but neither have got back to me :( Gonna pop into Jabba and see what they say but they don't tend to cater for the older VWs now

  • 2 weeks later...

Well G-werks said they cant help me :( No reply from PPP either so looks like a trip to Jabba.

The car performed as it usually does top and from Polo show but decided not to cut out as many times as it usually does. Its a rather random thing when it does it which confuses me as to where to start looking first!

At the show........................

Brought a triple gauge pod from Safamon (cheers mate ;) ) and after abit of cutting the dash away, it fits. Just needs re-trimming and it'll be ready to mount some dials in (which i need to buy)

It maybe stupid but I sorted the coops cutting out problems just cleaning the spark plugs today. I assume the g runs rich?

yes unfortunately :( Eats fuel like a hooker eats dick.

I'll have a look tomorrow and see if they're covered in black kack (which i suspect they will be.)

Cheers chap

no worries its the stupidest things that cause the main problems.

You should have seen my plugs after the polo show

I had the same symtoms like you did, like the cars a woman on a period, REALLY anoying.

Ever thought of taking it back to the guy who did the work, what was his name agian?

When will this car be done John? how id the fitting of the charger now, any better?

Jon- you wrote this post before you e-mailed us!!! Give us a chance!

You have mail back by the way.

Sorry Yoof. I thought i had emailed you but being a doof and checking my sent items box, i was wrong. Me 0 - lost marbles 1. I'll return your mail in a sec ;)

Ummm, let me think about that..........................

Yup, the chargers more firmly in place now. I've got some real thin washer spacers things courtesy of Kiz ( ) so a final few measurements to make sure its sat 100% in the right place and all should be good. I've had the same belt on now for a couple of months and its all good :)

I'm happy its starting to come together mate! it made my skeg show seing it!

cool :) the engine looks cleaner now than it did.

You need to be in the passenger seat really to hear the charger at full throttle ;)

  • 1 month later...

wow, haven't updated this in a while

Made afew more adjustments to the charger as it ate another belt on the way back from tatton park which wasnt a major blow as i just stuck the spare belt on and away we went again! Couldn't have stopped in a better location tho - outside burger king - RESULT :) pics can be found in the photo gallery.

Not alot else has changed on teh car really. Got a new AFR gauge from PeteG40 ( ) and although its a narrowband gauge, its showing that the cars uber underfuelling which may be the reason why it stalls when i pull up at junctions etc and why its running abit hot at times :( Need to get £350 so i can pass the car to the knowledgable guys at PPP to work their magic on it.

Been outside today and realised that the front tyres were below legal limit so as i'm abit skint at the mo, decided to change the steels for some alloys i have in the shed until i can get two new tyres on the G60s. Only have 3 of these alloys as one of them got too friendly with a kerb and theres a big chunk missing from the rim so i cant use it. Thought 1 odd wheel will look better than 2 alloys and 2 steelies so i got to work.

one side done..........

went to move the car and realised that the rear wheel was rubbing on the bottom spring cup and as i dont have any spacers to hand, had to change it back to the steelie :(

Should hopefully have another set of wheels lined up. just gotta wait and see ;)

yo man how are you?

glad to see the G is still up and running :)

been a while init!! i dunno which jon you are on my phone!

the mk2 is still off the road, got a lot of work to do on it, fitted a new fuel tank over the weekend though took so much work to fit lol

also why the name change *again* :p

Alright chap. Yeah, i'm good cheers. Suffering abit from this financial climate but who isn't ?!

Yeah, the cars still going. We're both busy doing overtime etc at work to be able to afford a remap for it so hopefully Andy & Pete will soon be getting a visit.

Shame you didnt catch up with us last time we were down but thats life. We'll have to make the trip again soon (especially now that we realised we went the loooooong way the first time  )

Blame Saf for the name change. Came from the polo show as i look like jesus apparently  and I drive a G and it kinda stuck :) Could've been worse i suppose although i couldnt live with cuntlips as a username

I'll PM you my number so you know which ones mine.

Slowly getting bored with the way the car is and how its running so theres afew ideas floating around in my head at the mo.

1.) get it fixed up, remapped and keep it on the road

2.) park it up, shove the sheet over it and get a cheapo daily until i can feel the love for it again

3.) strip it completely back to nothing and rebuild it from the shell up changing all the bits i dont like

4.) sell it (yes, sell it!) and buy something non VW for a complete change of direction.

1 and 2 are difficult at the mo as theres no overtime at work to bring in the extra cash i need and i dont really have the space or access for 3 and the only space there is is easy pickings for the gypsy bastards that pass quite regulary so there'd be sod all left if i took my eyes off it for more than 5mins!

decisions decisions...........................

#1 !

Come on dude, it won't take too much and you'll love it again afterwards

Agreed!

Get it sorted jon, dont loose hope!

yeah i know but i need something practical to nip to work and back in as the car hardly gets chance to get warm before i get to where I'm going and i cant afford to run 2 cars.

moped/scooter/bike is the answer to your problem.

i hate scooters with a vengence.

Mate at work found a mk3 bready for 100 notes but it has no t&t on it so would need trailering away which i dont have access to :( could need alot of work too so i may just leave it well alone.

Need a cheap polo (pref a mk2 bready 1043cc)

Things keep appearing on the G which i thought were sorted ages ago when knobcheese had the car like the drivers side wheel bearing. I know they can fail quick but not that quickly! From talking to other people with experience, it seems it may not have been changed to begin with!

depends what wheel bearings were used when (if) they were changed, GSF cheapo shit wont last long with an eratic car and driver

how many miles have they done?

Tryed running your car at a high idle to see if it stops the cutting out? could be a temperary fix?

Wheel bearing might be dying alot for a bigger reason - knackered hub or something.

It is running at a high idle currently but i dont like it! Sounds like i have launch control if i blip the throttle at traffic lights

Tbh, wouldnt surprise me in the slightest. was supposed to have been changed as one of the bolt holes had a knackered thread (my fault for running classics & spacers with the wrong length bolts!) and another thing which i paid to have bodged....errrr i mean fixed.

Well things go from bad to worse!

On the way to work yesterday morning, I rolled upto a junction, saw there was plenty of time to pull out but one car was going too fast and hit me passenger side :( I can't see how I'm 100% to blame as if I cut the other car up, the damage to mine would be further forward.

Informed my insurers and now I've gotta get some quotes to see how bad the damage is.

What really pisses me off is that the other driver was a polish female. This is gonna be oh so fun! Grrrrrrrrrrrr
