Jon's G40

Featured Replies

Wow, page 11

Since the weathers gone shit and all the long hours I've been doing, I haven't had a chance to sort the car. I luckily got a car cover for Xmas so it's protected from the snow and ice at least.

Tomorrows part ordering day (well, eBay anyway ;) ) so less bits to worry about.

Hurry up and get this on the road

When's it gonna be running!

Funds have been tight through one reason or another but with all the overtime I've been doing lately, i should be able to buy afew more bits n bobs. Ordered a connector thingymajig for the air filter yesterday and should pop into VW tomorrow after work to enquire about some new bits for the brakes.

I'm a wuss and haven't been outside to play with it since it started getting cold :(

Good things come to those that wait..........................................

Come on Jon! Get it done ;)

You heading to the RR day? Regardless of in this or not

Gonna quit smoking :-o which should free up some cash (and probably make me more stressed!) Do believe part of my air intake is awaiting collection so I can get that finished and then it's just the few lol bits left.

I maybe at the RR day. Might turn up and skulk in the corner :ninja: gotta fix the mk4 before any longish journeys

Its all looking awesome mate!! Its been a while I bet your itching to have it on the road to see what it can do! Lots of money spent but worth it I'm sure! I've updated my build thread finally now that mine is finished. If you have time check it out its somewhere near the top of the photo galary.

How come youve changed your username??

Hope your well mate

nik

I've gotta get it running soon before I lose interest in it and leave it to rust

I know it's taking me ages but I've got 1001 niggles on it to get worked out but enough of that : roll:

I'll check your thread out in a while, currently on my iPhone so pics take a bloody age to load and I'll PM you regarding the rest ;)

lol i started this thread thinking it was going to be running...lol

still dont no how much power its running....will keep an eye out i reckon.

i cant wait to start my eaton g40....saw engine video...so ancious to start.

Just taking alot more money than 1st thought! Hahaha.

Going to start work on the charger this weekend so I can get a new seal organised and then it can be put back in. As for power, I'd be guessing 180bhp. I need afew more bits (like a BVH etc) to get to my 200bhp target.

If you need any info on going eaton, let me know ;)

oh i will =], getting my engine on 23 and one i have now i am going to strip and completly overhall it. not sure what i will need though just yet. all i know is i want and eaton and what is a BVH?

Big Valve Head

oh i see, makes sense ty

cheers Daryl ;)

thinks me needs one to get the best out of my set-up due to having poo pistons (accralites). Hopefully i can get Jabba to teaze some power out of it all. just havee to wait and see. Need £900 to get a BVH and remap 1st :(

Would be nice to see this when its finshed. Who would you get to do the bvh Jabba?

I'm going to enquire with Jabba to get a price and then do some homework to see if it's more economic elsewhere.

It's roughly £500 to get parts and labour so I've gotta get saving, I need a subframe too ;)

Started pulling the charger to bits today (pics to follow). Rotors don't look in too bad condition, afew scratches on the Teflon but nothing major. With abit of clever thinking, managed to get the pulley bolt undone and removed too.

Bit stuck on removing the actual pulley and as I don't really feel like breaking anything, gonna see if I can get some advice before I continue.

Inside the charger (sorry its not a great pic. Iphone cameras are crap!)

Went out to the car today and it started!! Omfg, I'm gobsmacked. Turned it off so I could safely retrieve the charger belt and then the battery was so flat it wouldn't start again :( after dragging the car with a Hyundai to it's new resting place, we decided to start on the charger.

Thanks to abit of clever thinking from my mate, we got the pulley off without the need for a bearing puller :p seals now out and seem abit of a strange design to me but there we go. I can get a replacement item this week hopefully and get it back together and back on the car.

Pics to follow......

Found somewhere to buy a new seal and it's major cheap. Hopefully it holds the oil in? (which reminds me, I need some more charger oil)

Sounds good mate, hopefully be over come February to give you a hand :).

Sweet. Got afew lil jobs needing 2 people ;)

Batterys coming out tomorrow to be charged up.

Brilliant mate :). I'll have a look at the staffing sheet for Feb and see when I can get there, I'm guessing it will be week beginning the 7th Feb tho tbh.

Got afew but nothing too interesting, just charger shots. I'll try uploading them later if my computer lets me!
