My mate swung by yesterday to give me a hand. Drivers side rear cylinders been replaced along with the brake shoes incase we got fluid on them even though the old pads were near as damn it brand new.

Just need to check the fluid to the front brakes, change the odd bulb and swap a piece of boost pipe and two clips over to see if i still get a column of steam when the engines warm.

Still plan to have the car at springfest if i have to bloody push it!

Nearly there though. Just hope i can wangle the emissions for the MOT

looking good dude, keep at it =D

other halfs been going through my bank statements and it looks as though I'm owed over £1k so that'll pay for the remap plus afew other lil bits hopefully :)

why are you owned 1k? whats the crack? bank charges?

overseas purchases that wasnt me plus bank charges. Even half the amount back would cover the remap :)

the oft had thier case dropped and the banks are free to charge cnutish prices. i just found out the other day when i thought i could reclaim mine! i had some dodgy fake paypal transactions come out my account last year cleared out over a grand in about 40 minutes, got all that back so good luck g

would be the 2nd lot I've claimed back. Got £156 back a couple of months ago and then the bank charges on top of that!

Whatever happened to shoving your money under the bed? :(

The front brakes are done (nearly there now :) )

New bleed nipples in and a hell of alot of air out the fluid later and the car actually stops now :)

now to get it MOT'd to see what i missed.

Back from the MOT.

Failed :(

OSR brake showing litte or not effort! Apparently it just needs adjusting.

Apart from that, everything else was ok. Had to muck about changing a numberplate light bulb over and fiddling with the OS front indicator to get the bulb to go though but its all part of the fun!

Hopefully can get it adjusted quickly when i get back from my weekend away, get it passed and then it'll be good (well as good as it can be!) to appear at springfest.

sounds like cylinder is seized!

hmmmm, brand new cylinder that side :? i could always swap it with another one i have just incase it came dodgy from the factory.

Does this mean, if it passes the MOT 3rd time round it will be at the pod in 2 weeks? :D

Best do lol, 3rd time lucky!

might just need bleeding more

It'll be 2nd time lucky and yeah, it'll be at the pod ;)

We did try the easy bleed kit on that wheel and it didnt do what its supposed to for some reason? did it manually in the end.

I thought it had already been in and failed once before. or was that just a list of stuff u needed to do before u even considered taking it for one? lol.

That was just a list of bits that needed attention.

Got a long weekend near warminster so will have to wait till sunday night/monday now.

Still afew lil niggles but they'll get sorted ;)

Jesus came over again and whipped off the drum for me. Seems that one of the springs was restricting the movement of the adjuster pin so off came the spring for a small adjustment. Its adjusting itself now though so hopefully that'll be enough to get it through this time?!

The supercharger belts been tweaked as well as teh belt was coming loose and slipping off. The belt still drifts about on the charger pulley so I'm going to try and modify the top tensioner to keep the belt inline.

Unfortunately, it better pass for it to get to Springfest on sunday as the earliest appointment is saturday :o

Not the best news but gives me a week to have a fiddle with it to see if i can get it idling any better. Changed the CO pot over for another one i had to see if that makes any difference.

Car really needs cleaning but i cant be fucked to carry a bucket all that way!

It Passed :)

They checked the brakes and voila - one new MOT certificate. Popped round to the post office and got tax so now the cars road legal :) :)

Unfortunately, on the way to my mates, the charger belt decided to split itself! Now can you get a toothed belt anywhere around me at dinner time on a saturday? FUCK NO! Everywhere i tried was either closed or didnt sell them. Hopefully whats left of the belt will crawl me to springfest so i can get a new one.

Cars been washed and polished annd the trim coated in back to black to make it all good looking again and a quick hoover to the inside to get rid of most of the yak in there.

Hope to see some of you peeps tomorrow ;)

What a fooking epic day

The belt wouldnt play ball so i ran to santa pod without an alternator! Battery ran flat in the queue inside santa pod so had to push it most the way. Then strangely enough, the NS driveshaft dropped off! Snapped one bolt and bent another! Massive respect to Yeti and the two random chaps who came over to help and the driveshat was soonback on. HAd to be towed to the plot which was quite funny all in itself.

Another huge shout out to Saf. The belt stayed on all the way home mate. i had some right fun

Was a great day in the end. Had a talk to loads of people and just chilled out.

epic days for the win, i was having an epic fuelled fuelled on no sleep, irn bru, lucozade and a rather unhealthy appetite for sugary foods!

glad the belt stayed on mate, you deffo just need to give that tensioning bar a beasting with a fuck off bar and get yourself a decent 6mm hex head socket that you can fit to a meaty ratchet. every time i do an alternator it gets the BFB (big fuckin bar) treatment and then you know the belts reet.

while youve got your toothed belt find out the length, number of teeth and teeth gaps so you have measurements ready for when/if you need to get a spare and when you get the chance pop into see an engineer to see if they can have a gander at that top pulley and tensioner roller thing, cos a set of guides on those would make sure its routed perfectamundo!

glad your epic dyson is back mate =D

But those donuts were a proper result!

Theres definately more tools that i need. What I've got was a birthday present so I'm not really complaining.

The belts STILL on :) I check it constantly just to be on the safe side. Its had a tiny amount of rubbing on the cambelt cover but its not even worth worrying about. Probably got a better quality belt on now anyway. PeteG40 can get hold of the belts and I've got 1 more new one should this one die so when i'll just buy them in when i use one up.

I'll have to see georgios car to find out what he's been tinkering with. Gonna have a slide under the beast in a min anyway to check everythings hunky dory.

i've been scaring the shit out of everything and i love it :) especially at 6am

You gave me too many ideas on sunday. I need lots of carbon fibre and a cage :ninja:

Shouldve had those revolutions away too. Now i realise i could of afforded them :(

Absolute hero for sticking with this Jon!

Id of sacked it off loooooong ago after all the problems you had from the eaton conversion.

Sure has payed off by the sounds of it. looking forward to seeing it run at the pod soon with any luck!

Fair play to sticking with it matey, thought about jacking the scirocco in and getting a corrado many times but sticking with it, I'm now seeing results :-D

I'd have helped on sunday but I know jack all, I'd have just been the doughnut carrier

Didnt really have alot of choice tbh. If i sold up, i wouldnt get enough cash to buy another one which was in the same body work condition and with any extra cash i have left over going to pay bills etc, might as well just stick with it. Will probably lay off giving it death until i know everythings in tip top condition and the engine, chassis and brakes are all suitably upgraded.

You probably know as much as me! Gained quite alot of attention from being up on a jack most the day. Shame really we didnt have a banner to say who we were but cant be helped. At least i dont have to walk home from work now!
