not sure on power output but should see a figure over 160bhp hopefully.

Still needs a remap which will get done when the bank pay up the rest of the money I'm owed.

Well i've been running it for a couple of days now and the belts still good :)

Sometimes it runs like a dream, others it dont :( It definately doesnt like crawling along in traffic and keeps trying to jump forward (i'm duly informed by my mate its overfuelling?) Getting upto 70/80mph is easy but it doesnt want to know after. Also think the t/b wants adjusting as its venting alot of boost (generally needs setting up!)

Did put a best offer bid on a vernier pulley on ebay.de but not heard anything yet.

The amount of attention it gets is amazing. people just rubberneck to see whats making all the noise

All go again today. Car ran like a complete bag of poo last night so time to investigate.

Belt had become slightly slack and there seems to be something scoring a line down the belt to the left hand side so possibly catching on a guide?

Also changed the Co2 pot over to the original and for the time being, its running better although i need to change the lambda sensor and theres a funny noise from the charger i believe when my right foots totally planted! Bit quieter now its had a spray of wd40 although the noise is still there! Need to strip the front end off one weekend and investigate afew things.

Last job was to pump up the front tyre we used to auto bleed the brakes. Removed the pump and whoosh, the valve had come out :( luckily i have some spare alloys although it has a 50 profile tyre on, itll be ok for tomorrow so i can get a new valve put in.

Hmmmm, do i buy another alloy wheel, change the tyres and run them for a different look or keep the G60 steelies?

Alloys are black team dynamic Prosport (the funny looking 5 spoke jobbies). I'd get a pic but we've only just got the PC working again so not everythings working 100% yet :(

Got some of these:-

or

Keep the steelies and spray them black?

Meanwhile......I've made a temporary splashguard for the airfilter until i decide what design i want. Lucky really as then that evening the heavens opened!

keep the steels man they look a bit to fast and furious for my liking... but hey its your car ans thats only my opinion

niiiiiice g by the way :D

that is one nice lookin car man,

id say keep with the steelies, they will suit it better:)

what size are the wheels?? and I'm not to sure tbh....id say standard steels not g60s lol

Cheers guys :)

Really want something different and maybe abit smaller (14") so i dont catch the tyres on the arches like i do now :(

Had a quick peek under the bonnet and it seems as though the pulleys are still not quite aligned :(

Somethings eaten a 2/3mm edge off the belt on the outer edge.

Need to fix afew things like the lambda sensor and tweek the exhaust back up so this saturday it is ready for a local show on sunday.

at least you have an idea of what the problem is! have you made a decision on the wheels? i'd stick with the g60s myself but each to thier own and all that

Yo Jon, looks like you've had a lot of errrr 'fun' with the G40? :p

Good to see you are sticking with it tho man :) If you ever want to get rid of the G60s I reckon they'd go under breadvan arches with a bit of persuasion with a hammer!

Hope all is well

The pulley alignment is an ongoing thing until its right. If it cant be done by adding/removing washers from the tensioners, its time to get the angle grinder out (again  )

Didnt you know MAtt, owing a G40 always brings out the fun! And i think youre right, G60s should go under your arches with 165/50/15s or some stretched rubber like that ;)

Think I may've found one of the causes of my bad running :) an ill fitting pipe onto the front of the servo. Gonna sort it out tomorrow and see what happens.

Another job to add to the list is to get underneath and fiddle with the exhaust to make it sit as high as possible.

Whey hey, my new bits have arrived :)

Cheers to Scott (Buster G40) for the hugely massive fast service. Either that or the delivery driver is on some real good shit

Hopefully get them fitted at the weekend when pics willl follow.....

ah ah, decided to start early as the weather looked pretty grim tomorrow and i wanted it done. Unfortunately i didnt get any pics ( pic whores ftl :( )

removing the radiator was a peace of piss, even for me ;) Gave the fan housing a lick of VHT paint although it looks shit so I'm gonna sand it off at a later date (gives me something to do) The old radiator looked like a right mess but i kinda knew that anyway from the way it would steam slightly if the bonnet was open and the engine was hot! New bonnet equipped with the pluggy thing (very technical lincolnshire term that ;) ) and the fan housing fitted into car and now ready to fill with dead insects  Good job i brought a big bottle of coolant (5L) as i couldnt remember how much they take so i went for overkill.

I set about changing the alternator for a new bosch one and i really needed the charger off the car so once i figured out the best way to get to the underside bolt, it soon popped off. Looks as though its been leaking. Seemed quite a oily mess on the boost pipe underneath so maybe time to look into the seal situation again.

Was also covered in alot of the dust created because the belt hasnt run true and has fraided the edge. A quick rub down tomorrow before i replace it will remove all that. Will need to order a new belt (just incase...sod it 2! ) and a fresh bottle of oil to top-up.

As i had to move the top boost pipe to get access to the radiator, i inspected it to ensure that it wasnt cracked as previously suggested. No cracks were found and the intercooler was given a fresh coat of paint where it was needed. Once dry, i refitted the small piece of silicon boost pipe and then removed the headlight so i could gain access to do up the jubilee clip nice and tight.

Next job was to change the alternator (got there in the end!) whipped the earth off the battery to be all health and safety and then removed the two bolts retaining the wires on the back of the dead unit. Whipped the two retaining bolts off and pulled it out. Wow, its all going good till.....................

I dont have a 24mm socket :( Managed to get the pulley off the new alternator but getting the toothed pulley off was impossible without one. Damn, i'm not gonna get it done today. I hate my neighbours too much to ask them for a favour so i had to wait for Rach to get home so i could get a lift to my mates to borrow one. Lucky really as i either didnt have/lost the little wedge that slides on to lock the pulley. Tony to the rescue :) a quick blast with the belt sander and it was a snug fit. Its all re-assembled now although i do want to take a look at the pulley guides as this may be where teh belt is catching.

Jobs to do tomorrow :_

Re-shape guides.

Refit alternator.

Refit charger and outlet boost pipe to intercooler

Refit and tighten belt

Test !!!!!

Refit N/S headlight

Glad to hear your getting along quite nicely with this now, well done!

Cheers mate.

I did totally pissed on some guy in a bmw this morning! Pulled out of the parking spaces infront of my offices at work and a guy in a beemer came flying up behind me so i booted it and then watched him go backwards  From where my mate was sat waiting to come out the works yard, he said the beemer driver just didnt know what to do as i shot off so quick!

G40 FTW :)

Its all coming together :) With the alternator back in position with a 'custom' mount and everything checked, its better although it still stalls but I'm gonna get a new lambda sensor and see if that helps too.

bit lumpy for the first bit of throttle but if i plant it, it soons pulls hard

Did have a good laugh last night testing it all out.

Currently stripping the paint off the charger to give it a fresh coat. Keeping the charger on the car means i can attack the paint when its warm peeling it off ;)

stripped all of the manky paint from the top of the charger and then after cleaning it all, gave it a fresh coat of VHT black paint and now it looks tons better.

Its most likely gotta come back out the car yet for some alterations and i haven't yet found the easy way of wiggling it out the engine bay

Awesome stuff dude

merci :)

Inters as it looks today :)

Started ordering afew bits off the net since I'm at home on holiday.

Got another pack of metal cable ties ready to smarten the heatwrap on the exhaust manifold up but its falling to bits so looks as though i need another roll of wrap.

Renewing the boost pipes to keep inline with my scheme. Hopefully the first bit should turn up tomorrow/sat so i can fit it to see how it looks.

Brought the carbon rad cover that dub-disaster had for sale (cheers mate ;) ). Had to make afew little adjustments to get it to fit. needs a bolt/screw in it but it looks like this now......

Off to the scrappy tomorrow to get some lil bits and then maybe i can start to install my aquamist kit again :)
