ok.after seeing it on a little trip to halfords to top up on cleaning products.and always having a little obsession with early metros which proberly came from me and my dad playing with my metro scalectrix when i was very young.

it was in a car sales place.knowing metros were bad for rust and not the best build quality i feared it may be going to the scrapper.so thaught i should pop in and see the damage or problems.plus it was a mk1.original is always best....

i asked the guy if i could view it he said it was fine just go have a look.i was parked at the back behind all the cars forsale on it own.started walking towards it.thaught hang on theres very little rust.. jst the od scab on the front wing.got up to it.checked it over seemend ok.

sills fine,arches fine,just the odd scabby bit on the bottom of the doors..hmm check the clocks for mileage..

WHAAAOOOOOOAARRRR 24,000...ehh in shock i steped back.interior was mint.nice retro brown to clash with the light bogey green.mmmmmmmmmmmm ultimate granma's car.

i wasnt all great though. had a bumper corner missing and the rust on the front wings.but started fine and idle sweet. but th big problem...being a auto and having done such little mileage the cluch pack has lots of little friction plates and if the cars not used the stick together meaning no forwrds drive.:(...reverse was fine though..

asked a price and the guy wanted 250quid.didnt have the money at the time so offi went hoping for a bargain.but the seed was planted..

the car sale place vanished and i assumed the worst.but found there new site.i visited and asked about the metro.he still had it lol parked in a shed at the back along with a old 7 sereis beemer rotting away and old mopeds.i took another look and thaught meh.may aswell

offered him 200quid and collected it on a trailer..

yaaay i have a dirty little tro.

i got it home and cleaned it up the engine bay and changed a few bits and pieces.

pics before it was forgotten about.

until along came a mk2 golf which pushed it away to one side to be forgotten about which it was.but before it went away to be forgotten about up the garded to rot the hydrogas had to be relesed....it needed new lows..

few pics of it dumped...looks pretty much imense.lol

it been sat up the garden since last winter but it going to be coming back onto the drive for more love..

i started it up the other nite without a problem though it ildes but once reved and then it stalls once the revs drop.so a little issue.but it started fine.just very very dirty and covered in spiders webs and alittle more rusty.

though i have found some where to pump the suspension back up which should be done soon and I've baught a set of 6x13 et -7 ultralites for it just need some tyres now..though i have to pay for insurance first on my mk1 jetta.. .

but il keep this updated.

well seeing as i made a topic i thaught i should go get some pics in it current state and of other bits and pieces...

started the little baby up agen..oh yeah.lol took it for a little spin arround the garden.polughing my way about.hah.though i did manage to break the back box mount as it rusted though so was week.sound beefy now lol.

this is where its been say for near on one year.

and some nice spiders webs.mmmmmmmmmmm

fitted some retro sun visor extensions from a mk2 fiesta we broke at work..

also got some bumper corners for free of rr forum.just had to pay postage...nicee.

the ultralites.thats the best one by far the res have bad laqure damage but there straight and not kerbed.think i may ahve to get them sand blasted and then i shall paint them.not sure on colours yet though might go for somthing random like red centres and white dish or just all white...I'm not sure sudgestions want low maintence none of this polished bollocks..lol.

baught some brown leather gloves to go with my grandad spec brown bowler hat.....just require a walking stick now..

alos have a disabled badge holder sticker...

took it another little ploughing session earler and put some fresh fuel in it.

Bollocks.....

Well I started it up for the first time this year... And took ut for a spin... Backwards I may ad as it won't drive forwards haha... But now it beached on the chassis in the middle of the garden.... Me and my dad reyes to push it off but no joy.... I'm just gna have to Leave it there or use the mk1 caddy sitting in my garden to tow it out haha...

And it's all mouldy and the paint on the bonnet has gone horrid and bubbley.... Mehh

I still love it lots..:)
