how bad are the tears in the roof mate?

They're the usual ones near the back corners that seem to appear, erm.. probably less than an inch into the roof but they've been sealed with black silicone so aren't a problem now..

Only other thing is i dont think the top layer of the roof is a flush as it should be, if that makes sense, but it's only the tears that would let water though anyway..
