Hey guys, well some of you have already seen it as it was previously owned by Shaun330 on her (thanks bud) who only lives around the corner from myself. I saw it on Pistonheads last night and got in touch with him today. Was happy with what I saw, agreed a price and I bought it :) It's a 1Liter 4 speed Breadvan "Fox"

My main car (which I am taking off the road and turning into more of a project than a daily) is a BMW 325 (E36) which as I say currently gets used for daily commuting with the odd spot of drifting in between :)

Plans are atm to get any bits of welding done underneath and then possibly look at turbo'ing her :) not too fussed about the visuals of the car as I want to aim it more towards performance.

So anyway this brings me to project runabout! I bought it with no Tax or MOT and sitting on a set of spacesavers hehe! From what I've seen atm and i'm sure Shaun will confirm the mods etc. are as follows:

-1.3 Cam

-1.3Carb

-K&N Filter

-Aftermarket Backbox

-MK3 rear bumper

-MK2 Golf GTi Big bumper (unfinished)

-Light brow

-Coupe S interior

-Gloss black painted roof

-Lowered

haven't had chance to get any better pictures other than that sorry!

So for what I paid for it, i'm happy. I think i'll be reverting back to the original bumpers and i'll be lending a set of Vento 14" steels to make do for the time being until I get some better rimmage sorted. I'm not planning on doing anything major with the car. The shell seems extremely solid and in good condition which was the main selling point for me. I think i'll be keeping the gloss black roof as I think it's quite a nice little touch on her, may go for a duckbill splitter to compliment the original front bumper when I get one, we'll see how it goes :)

I see this cars had a slight bit of flaming on here from the sale ad which I think it's the front bumper which lets it down personally, the idea behind it is really good and with the time and effort put into it would look awsome! But you ideally need a nice deep set of wheels to pull off the big bumper too which I really can't justify buying (unless a mega cheap set comes about lol!) the actual body really is damn good :)

Will get some better pictures when I arrive back from Cornwall anyway. Very first jobs for it are to get other steels on and get the car MOT'd and Tax'd so i'm not stuck for work. Then I can start having a proper mess with it :)

In 2 minds about the Bumpers, good idea but not to my taste. But as you say, time and effort could pull it off.

Yer, like I say the big bumpers a good idea but you need some big/deep wheels to pull it off and like I say I can't justify spending that sort of money for a set of wheels on it lol! I like the whole small bar bumper anwyay, keeps it looking that little more retro :)

Hey guys, well i'm back from Cornwall now (could have quite happily stayed down there mind!)

Reached home about half 5, and after half hour of reaching home, what did I start doing? While down Cornwall with all the surf/skate shops in and around Newquay I just HAD to start buying stickers for the old girl!

Started sticking em on the back windows, still needs more me thinks lol!

Quite happy with that :) The glass is still dirty on the inside. Still haven't had chance to give the car a clean just yet!

Also something i've been wanting to do all week while down in Cornwall, get that front bumper off! (sorry Shaun, it's not my thing soz bud!)

Much better lol! Look how clean it is behind it! One of the things that sold this car for me, how clean the actual bodyshell is!

So yer, as you can see, it'd gone dark by this point and having a little mess under the bonnet. Got a bit of a tech question regarding the Carb (will post in the appropriate section in a mo) will be doing a bit of work under the bonnet tomorrow and either tomorrow or Friday will have a respectable set of steels on the go! Get shot of the rank space savers lol!

Hey guys, well I picked up the bumper tonight

Dunno how common or rare they are but I picked one up that had washer jets in it lol? Wonder if the plumbings already on the car to hook these straight up to or not??

Anyway it's in pretty good condition just looked really badly discoloured and the little plastic splitter bit on the passenger side appears to be missing so i'll take the other side off and keep hold of it in case the opposing side to match it :)

Picked it up from the breakers in Oldbury today called "Volksmagic" pretty cool place actually and all the guys seem decent down there! Got it back home, looking like so...

As I say looking tired and very aged, but other than cosmetic, is in very good condition! Also as you can see came with the complete indicators which I also needed! bananasmile.gif Popped out the indicators, took it into the back garden and wiped it down with some panel prep. Then I cracked out the Satin Matt black to try restore it's youth a little! Only got the one coat and took the pic while still a little tacky. I contemplated where the chrome strip goes maybe sticking a red strip in there instead to break up the bumper a little and completement the car colour? What do you guys reckon?

Before that me and my mate managed to sort the broken overflow outlet on the rad and got all the pipework hooked back up as it should! Unfortunately the cars still not running right :( (will update my cutting out thread in a sec) while me n him were doing that, my gf Suzie unscrewed my wing mirrors and gave em a quick rub down, I wasn't keen on them being red, so while the satin black was out....

Again took the pic while a little tacky and also cold lol! But you get the jist of em :) Will hopefully chuck the bumper on tomorrow It's getting there slowly!

Right then guys, another bit of an update! *Touch Wood* it seems as though we have the old girl running!!!!!! B)

There was a vacuum hose missing from the idle boost solenoid to the carb. stuck that in place and tried it, it did help the engine although didn't fully fix the problem. Next I took all the spark plugs out and gave them a clean up, all were quite black which was expected but nothing out the ordinary which was a good sign and all dry! Did notice though lead 3 wasn't pushed onto the plug properly so did that. Still though to no real avail.

So with my dad and my new Haynes manual at hand we had a good mess under the bonnet around the carb and my dad noticed how slack the accelerator cable was, like REALLY slack! Adjust up, and it seems she's running sweet as a nut now, absolute winner!!!!!!

So with that let it run upto full temp and make sure the fan kicked in, checked to see if hot air was blowing out the heaters in the car too to make sure there were no air traps in the coolant from when we were messing, and all was good! So give the carb a few squirts of carb cleaner and whacked the air filter back on! Looked a little mucky before cleaning but nothing major

So with that I thought i'd get a little celebratory vid of her running was needed lol! Listen to this badboy exhaust roar! It doesn't sound too bad in all fairness, still looks horrid mind! So will be changing it asap!

Also got my mirrors back on too! Crap pic I know but they look soooooo much better than in red!

Hey guys well another small update. New front bumpers on

Much much better! It's completely transformed the front end for me thank god!!

Also been having a mess around tidying the inside out a little and other little bits n bobs.

Wheels have been picked up tonight aswell so will have those on tomorrow! Then she'll be very close to looking respectable as this thing deserves!!! Can't wait! Going to put all four corners up on axle stands tomorrow while changing the wheels over and just give the brakes/hubs etc a quick once over to check for no obvious problems!

Roll on tomorrow!

BTW While rooting around under the bonnet I spotted this plug near the fuse box, bit of a crap pic I know but does anybody know what it goes to at all???

Also I had these come with the car, I think there sill covers? Apparently there supposed to be rare but I haven't got a clue? Can anybody else shed any light on them?

I'll probably end up selling them I think we'll see

Hey guys, well since then the car is now Taxed n Mot'd and running alright. I think the carb needs a bit of a tune up to keep it running at it's best though

So as of Tuesday i've started using her and to be honest I actually quite enjoy driving it, it's quite a quirky little cruise mobile lol! It's a little nippier than I expected to be fair lol, sounds crap but hopefully I may have sourced me an original backbox B)

On a not so good note the engines making a not so nice sound which i've pinpointed to a dicky water pump, it's got quite a bit of play in it so trying to drive it as little as possible. Picking up a new water pump and cam belt tomorrow and picked up a new alternator belt today, do it all in one go :) Also got a bit of a leak coming from the fuel pump where it bolts onto the head which i'll also sort at the time

So while I was waiting for my gf to arrive home from work anyway I thought i'd have a go at whoring him lol! BTW I have now named him "Otto" lol inspired from the bus driver from the Simpsons (Dunno why but I like it lol)

It's payday next friday so new rear bumper will be sorted and then if I get the original exhaust will get that on too, have a bit of an idea for it which needs me to wait until the original bumpers back on :)

Need to get steels tidied up a bit too!

Yer would like to deck it more ventually, at least at the front although it catches horribly now lol! There like 14x6 ET45!! And they're terrible for catching lowered already about 60-70mm so gonna have to wait for wheels until I go lower lol!

Made a start doing the water pump and belts tonight, at the stage now where it's ready to take the old pump out and start putting it all back together with the new items which I should hopefully finish off 2moz!

Hey guys, well I got to work doing the water pump and belts today! My god what a pain in the f*cking arse! First problem I got to was taking the crank pulley off, undone all the nuts alright but when I came to remove it from the engine bay, there wasn't enough room to lift it out! In the end I had to remove the engine mount bolt and push the engine over with a crowbar, doesnt mention that in the jokebook (Haynes manual) lol!

Next up was the timing cover backplate couldn't maneuver it out for shiz! In the end it broke a little bit although still useable ended up hacksawing it in half for when I put it back on!

So I finally got that out the way and it's time to pull the water pump out Could I move it? Could I boat! it was absolutely welded in! Tried to shock it with a screwdriver and hammer, all that did was broke it away. In the end I just had to be brutal with the thing and literally smash it out!

You can see all the bits where the bolt go through have all smashed off, what a pain! Anyway got it out.

So started putting it all back together putting the cambelt on was an absolute nightmare! I'd got the water pump set to the slackest point I think (bolts to the furthest left of the adjustment holes on the pump) the cam belt was tight as hell to get on! got it all on anyhow, started her up and the water pumps making a terrible whining sound like its a supercharger (i wish lol) making me think the belts too tight? Although I can just do under half a turn with the belt testing the tension. I'll make a seperate thread for it in the appropriate forum. But other than that seems to be all working good!

id not run it for long with a tight belt...ruined some pump bearings having mine too tight

Right then dudes! Did a little bit more today!

First things first went to Halfords with my dad in his car and picked me up a nice halfords 1/4" ratchet and a deep 1/4" socket set so I can get the bottom water pump bolt! (Ideally needed these in my toolbox anyway tbf!)

Got back and backed off the tension on the waterpump and all was good, the noise had stopped engine was idling better and I was happy

Massive thanks to B-Shaw on here for selling me a good condition rear silencer section for it so I can get rid of the hurrendous backbox that currently lives on there! It's come from B-Shaws saloon, the tailpipes longer than a coupe/bready but that will hopefully aid with my plan to bend it upwards and have an upwards facing tailpipe. Heres a pic to see how much excess i've got to play with to try and achieve what i'm after

Will look at getting this on once i've got my original rear bumper on to determine where it needs to be bent.

So once we got back, my gf (the great gf she is) decided to get the hoover out and have a bit of a spring clean on the interior! She hoovered up and gave the dash a damn good scrub and it looked so much better to before which i'm really thankful for!

At some point we're gonna get the carpet cleaner in there and do the seats and the carpet etc. Also wanna get me a pair of mats!

With Suze starting to clean up inside it gave me the motivation to start removing that horrible glue residue from where tints had been on the back windows! Eased it all up using thinners and then scrubbing it all off with soapy water and a nail brush. Was a right ballache but it was seriously worth the elbow grease in the end!

Also this morning I won myself a set of wheels on ebay which i'm hopefully going to be collecting one of the evenings this week Nice n local too! It's a set of teardrops

Not entirely sure just yet how i'm going to do them. Did a quick photoshop with keeping them silver and doing the teardrops red. If you guys have any ideas, let me know :)

Dude, i just used an old front pipe off an Omega V6 lol, it already had the upswept bit on, just welded it to the existing pipe, looked good till the hangers started giving up and u could see the rest of the pipe hanging off the back of the car

the Omega bit is the near enough right angle bit which provided the upswept bit, it was just attached to the S bend shaped bit of the shitty orignal Breadbin exhaust pipe but I'm guessing as u have a fully straight exit saloon u could just cut it down n weld to that,

even better thou would be to get hold of a pipe bender and then chop the end down to desired length lol

I Dont mean to keep posting pics of my shitter in you are WIP thread but this is what it looked like side on when the hangers had split and it was hanging off after catching it going up my drive with 2 heffers in the back lol
