picked up some mini rims at the weekend and bodged them onto one side to see how they would look and if they had any chance of fitting without scrubbing, they look a close fit, but i cant help thinking 13s look a bit small now, after running 15s for so long

not sure if the fronts are 100% legal? Due to the g40 calipers being a bit bigger than std mk3 polo ones I've had to space the wheels 8mm or so, to enable the rims to clear the caliper/carrier.

anyone know how much you can shave off g40 calipers? i want to run as small spacer as is possible

they look alot better than your old wheels.

i think if it was lowered more and the splitter was off the front they wouldnt look as small. i do like them though

thats cos the tyre is flat! cant go any lower, as its not practical. tried -80 before and to be honest it wrecks the handling

less than my last set of alloys! they are only a temp measure as these will be going back on, once I've finished repolishing the outer lip

hi mate... as far as i know y can get pulled for them... the tyre tread is out side of the arch..... there is 2 reasons y people stretch the tyre.. 1 is to clear the arch so they can go lower and the other is to get the tread in side the arch...

Yeah, Sidewall has to be inside the arch.

Would take a very anal copper to do you for that though?

yeah I'm aware that the tread needs to be inside the arch, but i cant decide if my tyres are close enough to get away with it, hence why i thinking about shaving the caliper a bit, so i can run 5mm spacers rather than 8mm one.

yeah i'll be going. the front indicators were from german ebay

if your worried about legality you could always put abit of stretch on the front and i think it would look even better!

i only bought the wheels for the tyres (yoko a539s) , so that would defeat the point of it! might just get the tyres swapped onto my steels.

i think to get the tyres anywhere near the arch would require the floor to be touching the ground (they are 175/50s) my main aim is to be running some tyres that dont spin up in 5th gear in anything but dry weather and improve the handling. I'm not too fussed about the aesthetics of it all

I was running 175/50's on mine - and it was low!

The other thing which you should note is that being that low with that offset will probly involve butchering the arches Had to do that on mine :)

^ yeah not really wanting to mess with arches etc, or even run that low, roads are far too bumpy round my way and i dont really wanna drive slow everywhere, kinda devoids the point of having a g40

look too small to me. Don't get me wrong they look nice. Just too small.

Seems like a ball ache getting it low enough and enough room in the arches. Not worth it in my eyes. Especially on a G40 which i am sure you want to actually be able to drive :-)
