"Motorists owning an uninsured car will be fined £100 even if they never drive it.

The new offence- part of a raft of government measures aimed at cracking down on uninsured drivers- will be punished with a £100 fine.

Uninsured driving adds about £30 a year to every motorists insurance premium, amounting to more than £400 million a year.

These new measures will catch anyone who is keeping an uninsured vehicle, leaving them nowhere to hide!

Motorists will recieve a letter warning them they will be fined unless they insure their vehicle. If the vehicle remains uninsured it could be SEIZED and DESTROYED - regardless of wether the fine has been paid"

What the f***, so for people, that take cars off the road to do neccesary repairs they get fined, Also learner drivers

no you shouldn't be worried apart from bad journalism and scare mongering

"The only way to avoid a fine will be to go through the bureaucratic process of making a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

This can only be done if the owner can find somewhere to store the vehicle. Uninsured vehicles left in the road would be clamped or seized, penalising those without driveways or private garages. "

So basically if you've got a car that is kept on the road it needs to be insured. got no problem with that at all.

Got a project or a summer use only then sorn it and keep it off the road and it can be uninsured. no problem

Yeah did wonder wether the SORN would apply , pays to keep an a eye on the f*****s though .

and 100 pennyfarthings isn't really a deterrant to driving uninsured
