Hi guys n girls,

I'm starting this now as i'd like a proper build thread as i'm planning on a lot!

So this is how I got the car...

Spec...

K04 Turbo

REVO stage 2 re-map

G60 clutch and fly wheel

Large cone air filter

De-cat exhaust system

Large Front mount intercooler (sprayed black for stealth)

Custom Downpipe

Custom Driveshafts

Custom Boostpipe

Running around 270-280bhp in a car that weighs close to a tonne.

Chassis

Damping / Height adjustable FK Coilovers

Upgraded G60 / Ibiza Cupra brakes with custom discs and race pads.

G60 Steels

Interior

Half leather/suede bucket seats and stripped out rear with the battery in the boot

Momo 280mm team steering wheel.

Exterior

All bumpers and doors smoothed of rubstrips

Custom vent in bonnet to help the release of hot air

Xenon's with 6000k HID's

Here’s Tom’s pics he took (I’m sure he won’t mind!!!)

I have so far put a sub in (Pioneer SPL 10”) but have now taken it out as I didn’t really like it being on show.

I’ve taken the Fire Extinguisher out!

I’ve fixed the Rear Engine Stabiliser mount as it had broken before and whoever repaired it last time didn’t do a good job… with the amount of bracing on it now it should never snap!

I’ve fixed the Gearbox mount… for some reason all the fins were grinded away and new holes cut for the bolts… very weird as the same part fitted on the original holes without the fins being removed so that should be a lot stronger now.

I’ve had to repair the clutch pedal as that exploded!!! Loads of pieces of it under my feet whilst driving!

Apart from that I’ve not really had a chance to do much… just keeping it clean and enjoying it!

I gave it a quick clean tonight and removed the front number plate as it was stuck on with Velcro and looked a bit tatty so before I stuck it back on I wanted some pics of it looking all smooth (unfortunately it was getting dark so pics are shite!)

Plans…

New exhaust. (hidden or oval is still my predicament)

Wheels. (I’ve got my hands on some RM’s but I’m still feeling the Schmidt Modernlines as well as LM Reps)

Repaint the Calipers.

Interior (who know’s!!! The buckets need mounting properly on sidemounts or some nice reclining Recaro’s will be put in)

I’d like to get it sprayed in Avus Silver one day as I think it’d look sweet.

Anyway, I absolutely love it, if you do too then cool, if not oh well!

Positive / Negative comments welcome!!!

  • I’ve just received an email notification about my old polo!! I thought it was dead!!   I’d love to see up to date pics of it!   I’ve gone all sensible now!

Jim - Thanks mate. I think I'll keep the engine!!!!

Alex - Thank you very much!

Babz - I know what you mean but it could be worse! Could be a Scooby vent!!! I don't know whether it's 100% nessercary, I might try a std bonnet and see if it gets too hot... it stays bang on 90 degs at the moment.

Personally, i love the bonnet :-D

real nice car m8, look forward to seeing updates 8-)

Thanks!

The bonnet doesn't bother me but i was thinking what else could be done! It'll probably get left tbh... it kinda says "i'm more than a 1.6 16v" without being too offensive imo.

I'm gonna go and get a quote from my mate on saturday to see how much a full respray in avus silver is gonna cost me as I really aint that keen on black cars... they're a nightmare to keep clean!

my temp is allways at 90... but it scares the shit of me how hot the rocket inlet and boost pipes get... there are red hot! I'm looking at bonnet vent i think

See that's the thing... my engine water temp is bang on... but it's soooo tight in there the other parts could get very hot without the vent... then again the TT and my Ibiza got very hot under there! Hence the warning stickers on the charge pipe!!!

lovely looking motor there mate. I think the bonnet vent thingy is about as good as those things can get, it's fairly subtle.

I like the bonnet vent, think it suits it well. Not too OTT or anything.

Very cool polo, indeed.

loving the engine mate

i want to do it!!

tidy motor

sleeeeeeeeeeeper!

Thanks guys!

I'm loving it... it doesn't attract any attention until someone who is in the know hears it! The look on drivers faces of so called quick cars is hilarious!!!

Oh yeah and I've also stuck a new set of 195/45 15 Goodyear F1 GSD3's on it as it was on budgets (which scared the shit out of me!).

Handles well and kinda gets traction when it wants to!

LSD is on the cards to.

paint it white! well i'm biased!

from your avatar it looks like you have an s3 / lcr / tt 210/225 inlet manifold, the 150 / 180 bhp inc icr have the tb on the left.

nice motor, like the plans you have, bonnet is marmite mod i've run a raised bonnet on a couple of my high powered smaller cars and does suck out some unwanted heat in the bay.

glad you've been addressing the 'issues' from the conversion before doing the less urgent stuff.

i'd personally go for the hidden / sniper pipe but i like suprising people!!

good work so far bud, look forward to seeing it in person - maybe october no rice? west side show?

Olly

I'm suprised how well mine gets tracction tbh it only spins up in 2nd when its a little bit damp or on a pretty lose service. but I'm only running standard power :)

i guess it feels like a diffrent car onces its mapped :)

i havnt really suprised any cars cos as soon as they here it whistle they know what it is lol

Thanks mate... I want it all 100% before I start doing anything else!

It has the 225 inlet manifold for that very reason so it's easier for the FMIC. But it's definately an AYP Ibiza engine as I know the Ibiza it came from! (I used to have an Ibiza).

I had a raised bonnet on my RST and I got fed up with people trying to be helpful telling me my bonnet wasn't shut!!!

I am leaning more towards the hidden system as if i wasn't i would of already done the oval as I have a nice shiny stainless steel oval rear box! (an my brother is excellent at making up exhausts!)

I won't be at no rice in October as I'll be in the Dominican Republic... When / where is west side? If not i'll be at november no rice. I look forward to seeing your Bora too!!!!

very cool:-D

Cheers mate.

west side show is this sunday - i'll be there with a few ukmkiv boys and loads of other dubs plus my mates show winning mk1 golf s3 powered beaut. i'll be going to the reading VAG meet after west side - should be around 50 - 60 dubs meeting up at the motorway services!

i fitted the s3 inlet to my aum (golf gti lump) to make plumbing the fmic in easier too. i had an ayp ibiza before the bora too.

yea i used to get that 'your bonnets not shut mate' all the time too!
