I'm planning on lowering my car soon depending on how much it'l be to declare on insurance, i was wondering what people think to the ride quality etc of budget coilies...or would i be better investing in a higher quality set such as FK?

i've always stood up for cheap coilovers in the past, i've had them on a few of my cars and never had an issue with them, they did what i needed and a good price so i was happy.

then a couple of months back i got offered a set of fk's for my jetta at mates rates and they were good too but i didn't really notice much difference in the ride quality to the cheap ones i'd had in the past. at the time the only issue i had with them was that the rears wouldn't go any where near low enough to match the fronts so just before edition i fitted a set of cheapo coilovers just to the back to get it sitting right and now it drives like a bag of shit. now that i have both sets on the car i can really tell the difference, the front has a stiff but smooth feel to it were as the back is just hard as fuck, going over a speed hump is fine till it gets to the back then it nearly snaps my neck and driving down a country lane at speed feels like i'm on a bucking bronko

cheap ones are fine for just going low but for any thing else its well worth spending a little extra imo.

we've got the FK AK coilovers on a club deal for £223.76 at the moment. With this deal they're about the same price as the cheapo coilovers available from the budget manufacturers, but better value for money
