is there any other differences between the gt and g40 block despite the pistons and the gt's lack of a knock sensor?

g40s normally have a bolt on water pipe - gt push fit,

g40s have an oil drain

g40s supposed to be webbed for strength, dunno if this is true tho

on the front of the block just above the sump line. g40 block also has a drilled and tapped hole on the back for the knock sensor.

do you use the oem oil drain when using a ko3 turbo, as I've seen many examples where the turbo oil drain has been tapped into the sump, i may be wrong though?

You wan't to tap into the sump and have a bigger diameter drain.

The blocks are slightly different. I noticed the breather pod hole is machined out slightly differently. The 3F breather pods are different too. I couldn't remeber how the 3F main bearing housings were in terms of webbing cast in and what they are like to the PY block.

G40 crank case also has extra holes tapped for the charger cradle/engine mount.

no it's far too small for a turbo oil drain, you need to weld a fitting to the sump like I did on mine:

use the standard oil supply though.
