Recently purchased my first car, 6N Polo 1.4 Openair. Had a go at removing the bump strips, starting with the rear passenger door, fine. Got to the front door and it seems as though it has been painted at some point, with the strip having just been masked up. As you can probably guess, it leaves a line where the strip used to be, and the colour doesn't quite match so is therefore quite noticeable. Does this mean having the whole of the door resprayed, or is there something I can have done to try and take this line out. If it means a respray, I'll have to put them back on, and this is the last thing I want to do. Any help appreciated.

The car is white if that makes any difference, not a huge difference in colour but is noticeable, certainly up close.

As mentioned, the colour under the strip is slightly different, leaving a very slight ridge where the new paint around it is. Could this be cut back, or could I go to chipbusters or something as they may be able to do something, or at least advise??3

mate there all like that, the bottom is how its ment to be but over the years the paint has changed because of all the dirt and grime getting on to the paint and its faded. mine has a slight line down one side, i was told i could wet and dry the line away and then polish it up but i haven't had time to do it

it looks sooooo much better not having them on gives it more of a smoother look, its a slight fade on mine as mines dragon green so cant tell that much

any chance you can post a photo i have an openair and would like to see what it looks like without the strips

as for the line your left with i have been spraying the car with cans i got from halfords and with some work matches well

so you could try that.

maybe you could take it to a bodyshop and see if they can blend it somehow, with spirits? that's if it has actually been resprayed and it's not just paint fade.

if it's paint fade i would use a good cutting agent.. try T-Cut, or 3M do a good stuff.. then just give the doors a really good wash and polish, the works.. and see what that does

shouldn't be too much of an issue on a white car though?
