aee cbr 900s 4 speed box?

Featured Replies

hey guys I'm seeing if this would be possible

I'm fed up with my 1.0 mk3 power, I've read some threads with aee engine conversions into a gt.

but the main thing is can it work and what other parts may i need?

aee engine

4speed box

carbs

modify engine mount

shave cambelt tensioner bolt to fit bottom single v pulley

fabricate inlet manifold

use manifold and down pipe from aee engine

will starter motor, clutch, flywheel all fit?

do cbr 900 carbs require another fuel pump or can i retain the 1.0 pump?

do these carbs need a regulator or just t eed back to the tank?

will a vacuum dizzy fit on the aee head?

my polo is down 60-80 will the sump catch?

i cant think of any thing else at present but if any one else your more than welcome to chime in your thoughts

thanks for your help in advance.

oh yeah and like most at the mo would like to save as much money as possible

Use ABU its easier...

600 bike carbs not 900 with bike fuel pump.

Fab a manifold.

Mk2 Polo dizzy, coil, amp.

Late Mk3 Polo starter.

Any Mk3 Polo box, flyheel and clutch (matching)

Put your mk3 1.0 sump, pickup pipe and dipstick on the ABU, then you can use mk3 exhaust aswell....

Thats bout it, engine mounts bolt straight up and I have no issue with cambelt tensioner or pully up to now, although mines not running yet...

nice one thanks is the abu a 1.4 then? and does that mean my starter would fit or would it be a 94 1.3 one ..

and what sort of power would this conversion roughly make ? thanks

ahhh and just checked it is a 1.6 isnt it nice.....

Yeah ABU is 1.6, and its 94' mk3 starter....

Power wise, you easy looking at over 100bhp straight off, with good 4 branch and exhaust.....

1.0 exhaust bolts straight on without modification, the sump's clearance is no different,i dont know where this rumour has come from that there's less exhaust clearance. Of later models; the 1.0 exhaust is the same as the 1.3's apart from a thinner downpipe. you need the 1.3 one if this is your set-up as the 1.0 one is too thin. But the 1.3 one isnt too restrictive.

Forget the 4-speed 1.0 box,as it doesnt suit the nature of the engine at all - and you'll have to keep lifting off the throttle as it cries out for another gear, even at just 70mph.

o cool so I'm on the look out for a 1.3 box from a cl or gt then? and 1.3 down pipe ,but my manifold fits the abu

cheers for the help,as I'm making my shopping list so i can attack it in one hit hopefully ,but my holey exhaust and leaky petrol tank are the fisrt prioty at the mo
