17's on a 6n2 GTI?

Featured Replies

Don't all scream at me!

I'm purely thinking about brakes and 17's would open up so many more doors!!!

And 16's look good on 6n2's can an extra inch make that much difference????

Anyone got any pics???

I'm thinking TT Comps with 312mm TT brakes behind them!

It's not a GTi but have you seen Stambo's car?

Now I quite like it!

Thanks guys!

Stambo runs 185/35 Nankangs on his. I don't know whether the same tyres should be used on a 20VT, the next size up is 195/40 :?

I'd probably run 215's on a 7.5J rim.

I'm not all that into stretched look. It works on really wide dishy wheels!!!

Then if you want any lows you'll probably need archwork? If not the car will probably look abit of a monster truck lol

Arch work isn't an issue. I cant see them needing pulling, maybe just rolled.

Oh I don't know! The silver one above on black OZ's looks great imo.

Hey it's absolutely your choice mate, don't follow the herd, but IMO there's a reason you don't see many 6N2s on 17s on CP and it ain't because of 'the scene' or any of that bullcrap, it's because for every 6N2 on 17s that works, there's about 20 that fail, alas-

With 17s you need to be low to make it work IMO, hence stambo running elastic band tyres..

FLOL!!!!!! Some of them are hilarious!

I'm not thinking about it to go against the grain or anything like that... it was purely on the fact that I could fit 312mm front barkes!!!!

The reasons the cars posted above look horrific is purely due to the fact that all those wheels are gash.

TT comps, the right tyres, stance dialled in perfect and i think it will work on your car. Plus once you have got them on you will be different which is always a bonus on mk4/mk5 polos :-)

I say do it, but do it right.

8-)

Wheels are hidious plus only 1 of them looks like it's had an attempt at lowering!

We'll see what i can do... Comps may be tricky as i think they're ET33 and adaptors will be 20mm so may be tight.

Tight is nice though

I'd try and see what I could fit under the 16" rim rather than up to a 17"...more weight here....more weight there....low profile tyres...low short stroke suspension...you'd be throwing handling out the window just for some pimp brakes.

It's not great with handling and it can't put power down coming out of corners anyway.

I hear what you're saying though it's appreciated as I wasn't really thinking about that!

I fooking hate making decisions about wheels.

17's on the silver Polo's up there look sweet 8-)

17's look sweet on Ibiza's so 'should' look ok on a polo!

I think it would pull it off no problem, will be a break from the norm :D

No. Lets not be silly.

there was a black polo floating around at most of the shows this year on LM reps

think they were 16's, but it looked well tidy!

LM reps are win, these are 16s though.. ;)
