Hi there everyone, been wondering on the Club Polo-forum for some time now, posted up some minor bits here and there, and even joined Club Polo some time back. But I wanted to post up a thread on my own project here too, hopefully it's appreciated.

Well, some details about myself, I'm Jarno, 23, life in the centre of Holland, and been infected with the Polo-virus ever since I can remember. Mum always drove me and my lil' sister to school in a mk2 Derby, the in a mk2 Coupe, and lateron a mk4 replaced the mk3 Coupe. So when I turned 18 I bought me a mk4 Polo. And too be honoust, I'm kind of embarresed to show how it looked, but ey, f-it! Here's how it looked when I just bought it:

000_0063.jpg

But changed a lot in the years it's mine now, here's a small summery of the major changes I've made to the car:

-botom end is still the original 1.3 ADX engine

-head of an 1.6 8v AEE, ported & polished it myself, skimmed it to 11,5:1 compression ratio

-lightened flywheel, and balanced with the pressure group

-1.6 8v AEA inletmanifold, with a self ported&polished injectorhouse and throttlebody

-cold air inlet with closed Green airfilter

-fuel rpessure at 2,5 Bar

-Schrick camshaft, 268 degrees timing with 9,4mm max lift

-adjustable cam-pulley

-4-2-1 exhaust manifold

-de-cat muffler from Supersprint

-groep n spec rear-muffler

-never had it on a rolling road  not planing to either, since there's another "project-engine" in the garage already ^_^

Suspension:

-GAS airride, V1

-Eibach anti-roll bars front and rear axle

-Bonrath polyurethane bushings all around (wishbone, topmounts front&back, rear axle mounts, ARB etc)

-I used to drive around on 15 inch BBS RS772's, original Polo GTI, painted centre's, polished lips with Nankang 165-50-15 NS2's with on the front 50mm spacers, rear 60mm

-Zimmermann drilled and vented discs

-EBC Greenstuff pads

Exterior:

-repainted it in Seat's Schaduwgrijs Metallic

-matblack sidemirrors and B-pillars

-Audi S4-look frontbumper

-S3-look rearbumper

-boot half-clean

-antenne cleaned

-little marks under the rearlights cleaned

-sidemarks for jack-stops cleaned

-dark lighting around

-mk5 roofstrips colourcoded

Interior:

-black leather Golf 3 highline seats (front and rear)

-black rooflining, original Audi-fabric

-black A, B & C-pillars, same fabric

-black parcelshelf and carriers, same fabric again

-modified rear safety belts, no more 3-point belts, only 2 point belts, now there's no more mount on the C-pillars

-mk5 doorcards

And finally some pictures of how it looked at the end of last years "show-season":

Thanks for the positive remarks people!

Unfortunately I didn't know you had to get your new topic "approved" by the admins first, so it isn't "complete"yet, this is just how the car looked last year, so here some more pics+tales to get you up-to-date untill today ;)

A lot of work went on right since last year.

Plans are:

-mk5 dashboard from a GTI

-customise the airride set-up, single wheel control instead of single axle control

-new rims, BBS RS001

-new engine, a 1.6 8v AEE on ITB's

Some pics of the works:

The RS's, unlackered and with a new 2inch lip on and new centre cap in:

The KMS stand alone motormanagement system:

Donor Golf 3 GTI 16v rear-axle for the brake parts:

Made a little video of all mk5 interior/dashboard parts working + the climatronic:

Test-fitting the mk5 dashboard:

My new duo of airride compressors, chromed, and will be feeding a big chromed tank too ^_^

New frame for the airride pressure gauges:

260420091554.jpg

Also a frame for the control buttons for the airride:

Holes made and popped in 1 switch for the photo:

We had our event of the VW Polo Club Holland on sunday the 21st of June, so had to be there with the mk4 instead of the daily mk2  first show this season the mk4 went out to

Looked like this, got hold of a set of polished Zender Turbo Phase II's, 15x7 ET12 with Continental 165-45-15's

Asten08.jpg

Asten07.jpg

And my painter just rang me up, my RS 001's centre's + innerlips were done and ready!

220620091884.jpg

220620091885.jpg

The Zender Turbo's went off on Thursday, and were sold that evening, and on saturday me and the bi-turbo'd mk4 owner Jeroen Leenders put back together my RS001's, plus got it roadready.

front tire:

and the endresult:

and on sunday (yesterday) just had to hit the first show with the new wheels (VW Fanatics):

dsc_5750copy.jpg

which turned out to be a good move, won the 3rd Price Polo 6N(2) :D

280620091909.jpg

REally happy with how it looks now, good stretch on both tires, 7,5J up front on 165-50-15 Brigdestone Potenza, 8J in the back on 185-45-15 Nankang NS-II, with polished lips, stainless bolts & nuts, and the centres painted in BBS Gold, with a matt clear coat on top, brand new hexigonials in the centre's with chrome emblems.

Got some more pictures from a good friend of mine which he took @ VW Fanatics Show:

While I was still able to rotate the front wheels free without hitting the chassis, I today took apart the front air-suspension-shocks, and took out the bumpstops GAS places in their sets. Also removed the bumpcap as well which Koni puts on their shocks.

030720091922.jpg

Here are the bad guys, now it definitely goes as low as possible with my wheels ^_^

030720091923.jpg

Put my mk5 mirrors back together and mounted them. Also redid the electronic wiring for them. Also took out much of the lower dashboard again, to get this just the way I want them, and have an easier job wiring some of the audio in. Hopefully have it all done for MIVW 8)

Firstly a photo of the front axle now with the bumpstops removed from the front shocks, the air now drops perfectly and gets the drive-shafts onto the chassis

040720091926.jpg

mk5 mirror, bought me a Brittish passenger-side stubby one, which is the drivers side for us here in Holland

060720091933.jpg

And lower dash and doorcards out again

060720091934.jpg

Also scored me some better grade oil for the new engine at Leenders Autosport (owner of the mk4 Polo bi-turbo)

040720091927.jpg

Airtank on it's base:

100720091950.jpg

Trunk:

110720091951.jpg

Visited MIVW, unfortunately it was sh!tty weather, but luckily the rain and clouds cleared right when I hopped in and started the journy home, so sneaked to a quite spot on the airstrip Valkenburg and took some snaps:

120720091955.jpg

Visited the VW Outlaws event here in Holland last sunday, and had to hit the stage to collect the third price in the category "Best of Polo" :D

And yes, that tall geezer on the right looking down is me, and yes, I DO fit into that little mk4 Polo next to me  ^_^ (fits rather well actually ^_^ )

-1 set of valves per wheel, controls each wheel independently (no body roll)

-2 double gauges, 19 liter chromed tank, 2 ViAir 380C chromed compressors

-BBS RS001's, totally refurbed, widened to 7,5J up front (165-50-15 Bridgestone Potenze) and 8J on the back (185-45-15 Nankang NS2)

Cheers for the compliment! Respray was around 1500 euro, including some welding for smoothing some stuff. Did do the stripping of the car (interior, engine, doors etc.) myself though.

And plans include new rearbumper and 1,6 8v AEE on ITB's

A minor up-date on the project, bidded on an Ebay auction a while back, even forgot about it, untill I just received an email stating I just won a pair of mk4 GTI front brakes + wheelhubs etc., the whole piece I'll need to convert the front to 256mm GTI brakes ^_^

PoloGTIremmengewonnen01.jpg

So a big brake upgrade for the mk4 this winter, front goes from 239mm to 256mm, and the rear from drums to 232mm discs

Dude your polo is great :). Can you please help me with a couple of things. What is color code you used to paint the car, and how difficult was to fit the Mk5 dash inside the mk4? How much work you have to do with the electrical wiring and especially with the tacho?

Colour is Seat's "shadowgery metalic", can't remember the colourcode from memory, sorry.

Mk5 dash conversion isn't the hardest to do physically, but to get the electronics sorted out is a proper b!tch to do. Total conversion took me about 5% of the time to actually fit the dash, the other 95% all went into soldering the entire interiorloom to fit. Biggest b!tch is indeed the tacho, other f-ed stuff is the alarm-lights (blinkers) and the climatronic (but to install climatronic is a choice of course ;) )

Thank you for your prompt response mate. I don't have a climatronic so I guess that's sorted out. Do you have any sort of wiring diagram for the tacho or guide for the tacho? I know so far that the fuel indicator must be relocated on the loom but I don't have the slightest idea what goes where? Why the blinkers where such a b!tch? Thank you for your time :).

Blinkers are a b!tch due to the relais, 6N has it on the fuse-box, 6N2 in the switch ;) The mention you make on relocating the fuel indicator on the loom is not the solution, depending on which type of mk4 electronics you have (old or new type). I don't have any digital copies of my diagrams or notes, just the printed & written ones, sorry mate.
