Featured Replies

hi everyone i will start from the begining , yesterday i was driving back from the gatwick airport and just as i come out of surrey in o surbtion in the distance i saw a man in a high vis jacket step out into the road, (it was bout half 9 and dark so i thought it cant be police with a speed gun). i was doing about 40 and slowed to 30 when i saw this guy in the distance and as i got closer he was tring to stop me but the car next to me thought he was after him so blocked my path and went to pull over and the police was waving him on and pointing at me . at this point i was shiting it as i had just came back from amsterdam and had certain things on me that the britsh law doesent agree with ;) . so i dove round the car and drove off pretneding i dident see him lol and ducked down some roads and lost them before they could even see where i went. i waited around for a while shitting it still and got my mate to drive to me and collect all my stuff incase i got pulled and i made it home ok. but what i want to know is what are the police gunna do i dont even know what i did wrong the was no speed traps or anpr , also it was dark and they cant use speed guns at night (thats what i think) i have no idea why they wanted me . what do you reckon will happen now can i expect a letter in the post ??

(it was a shit reminder at how much this contry sucks compared to holland)

thanks

james

if they got your number plate then they will probably trace you and you will probably get a letter through the post for evading police or something along them lines and a telling of more than likely...

Just Forget It Fella, If You didn't stop and they didn't find you with camers evidence they are stuck, they can't prove anything so sit back and roll a big un your in the clear. If you ever get stopped by the plod and are told "its just a routine stop" do as I do ask them what there routin is, are they going to check your lights first or radio to see if your legal, a eroutin is something that is done the same way time and time again tell them to look it up in a dictionary then ask them where it says in P.A.C.E That they are allowed to do a routin check, It doesn't and it is illegal for them to do so.

The police can stop you and check your documents if they wish, they don't need probable cause etc.

If they were going to come and arrest you...they'd have done it by now mate.

I think you can count yourself lucky...been to the Dam myself a few times now

going again in December and it's hard not to do a bit of shopping and bring it home. ;)

thanks for the advise guys , i was thinking unless they stoped me that night or straight after they tried to stop me they would have no evidence

, it could have been a routin stop but last time i saw the police officer he was pulling me for a anpr hit but this time there was no other cars ,vans or camras anywhere . and my car is clean . I'm glad i dident stop tho fuck the police lol. if they did catch up tho i would have stoped because you cant out run the cops so whats the point in trying .

i do feel lucky and it would have been deverstating if i had lost all my goods and this was the most i brought back compared with the last 4 times .

when you go make sure to check out the og kushx haze from homegrown fantisy it was one of the best smokes and their cheese is amazing shame they had none left. but i guess you know all the good places , have a good time :-)

Yes they do mate, they can check your docs without stopping you all your details are on M.I.D

this thread has gone ridiculous and personally i think your an idiot! your giving advice on where to buy (uk)illegal substances from on a public site....Genius!!! grow up and think about things before puttin them on a public board

the police have the right to pull a driver for any reason they deem sufficient, though they will have to justify it later and prove that they had just cause within the constraints of the law. for all you know your lights might be un-aligned and be blinding people and they were going to advise you.

personally i think you should have pulled over, since your so sure that you were or had done nothing wrong (40 in a 30 :-s) lol

As long as i don't insult anyones race, colur or religion on here i really couldn't give a shit

mate.I go to Amsterdam 3 or 4 times a year for a smoke and a ride at the whores. It's my

choice and if our nanny state government won't allow us to enjoy ourseleves with the

money we work hard for then of course i'll go somewhere that does.

Personally i think your an idiot for not knowing what Amsterdam is most famous for...and

i don't mean Ann Francks house you muppet...but now feel free to report me to anyone you like.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I might be wrong but in the past the police have busted people for admitting drug crimes on facebook etc and used their admissions online as evidence, so everything anyone has said in here could be viewed by one of those dedicated detectives and potentially used against you.

its probably not serious enough but they COULD look around the polo sites because it was a polo that failed to stop and find your admission on here! :S

Might not be totally right but I'm pretty sure thats what they can do!

Couldn't care less mate...i don't smoke over here...what we get over

here is SHITE compared to whats LEGALLY on sale in Amsterdam.

I've been doing this for nearly 15 years now and i'm happy to get my

long weekend, every couple of months or so...i work hard for it.

Besides i never said at any point that i brought weed back...did i?

Anyway mate...i recon you've got away with it by now.

But how do they know that the person driving the car is the person who appears on the computer against the car's number plate though? Unless there is a giant photo of your face attached to the rear of the car they don't.

They don't need a reason to stop you other than that you are a person driving a car and it's the the polices business to check that the person driving the car is entitled to do so. This is a fact, I just spoke to the retired traffic police officer who happens to be in my kitchen. They can give you a reason if they wish...but they don't need to.

In America the law is different, I believe they need probable cause. Not so in the UK. Now if you are a law abiding citizen with nothing to hide none of this should pose a problem. Inconvenient yes, but ultimately a few wrong stops might be worth it to catch some criminals. If you watch programs like Road Wars you'll see stops to check documents often lead to a far more serious crime being found out. If you're driving about in a shabby old VW that might be enough for them to look twice.

Tbh, you'd look more guilty fleeing from the po po than stopping.

I couldnt give a monkeys uncle either if they read this site. If i wanted to be babysat by the government, i'd ask but the countrys becoming out of control with too many power crazy fools at the controls.

I really want to visit Amsterdam at some point. Been before (went to Ann Franks house - she wasnt in!) and saw some perculiar things in the red light district but i want to sample their 'culture' a little more closely ;)

lol yeh i think its all blown over and i dident say anything bait I'm not that dumb i just implyed that i may have taken things back that the law doesent agree with . and whats wrong with given buster a tip of about where the best draw is atm in a country where draw is tolerated and the police dont waste their time with a plant that has amazing tastes and effects . and sean i would have pulled over if i had done something wrong

but i said why i dident and I'm glad i dident just because the law says that cannibiss is wrong doesnt mean it is, drink is alsot worse but that is seen as fun and the more you can drink the better you are ..... false it is annoying how the law contradicts its self . just chilli out no need to call me an idiot just because i handled the situation in a diffrent way to you .

peace

This sounds a lot like what happened to me a year or so back, has the road by any chance been changed from a 40 to a 30 recently? I was clocked doing 40 by a hidden cop with a speed gun, and got pulled in later on up the road in the same fashion as o they were trying to do tyou. All they said to me was do you know this is a 40 bla bla breathalised me and let me go!

Hi again yes everyone knows an ex police officer, Ask him to show you his copy of P.A.CE I'm sure he will know what this is. It states that a vehicle can only be stopped if there is probable caause that the drive has commited an offence or the vehicle is should not be driven on a public highway. That is why when the police are doing "spot Checks at the road side they either use V.O.S.A who do have the right to stop you

or they do it on an evening whe probale cause comes into play Ie OPL. If you would like me to send you a copy of P.A.C.E On CD I charge £10 inc P+P You may find it a good bit of reading

Mate I don't know one, I live with one. Given he was in the traffic for 20 years I reckon he knows what he's talking about. If he stopped you you'd be cooperating regardless of what you thought you knew about P.A.C.E. Point is Joe Bloggs in his nice clean new family car won't get bothered, people who attract attention in some way will. Probably cause...you look like a dodger...your rear light is out...a car matching your description did something...

If I pulled over and someone was trying to be a smart arse it'd only make me want to find something wrong with their car. Attitude test isn't hard to pass.

Had a read up on PACE, it just seems to effect powers of stop and search before arrest. No where does it deal with the power to stop you and ask you provide your name/documents/proof you are able to drive...so I reckon that argument is out the window? Now if they were to stop you and happened to smell/see anything that lead them to believe a crime was committed (i.e smell of weed) then they could within the guidelines of PACE then conduct a search. But we're not talking about searches, just the right to stop you.

Also £10 lolz, it's free on the internet you scamming bas.

The police have the right to stop any vehicle on a road at any time, in any situation (section 163 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 if you're interested) simply because it is an offence for you to not to stop when instructed to do so. Highly unlikely that they'll bother pursuing the matter even if they have your reg, unless your vehicle is of interest to the police for reasons you haven't mentioned.

Once you're stopped if there is anything about you or the vehicle that suggests there may be drugs present you and the vehicle can be searched uunder s.23 of Misuse of Drugs Act. If necessary you can be forcibly taken to a police station to be strip searched.

s.1 of PACE that was mentioned by another post could also apply as it gives powers to search for stolen property, offensive weapons, prohibited articles or anything that you might use to steal (e.g. a crowbar) etc.

mr-bruno has unfortunately been badly advised, the power to stop your vehicle is not covered by PACE. There are enough powers in the Road Traffic Act that require you to stop and, amongst other things, produce your driving documents on demand. PACE in fact says very little about driving offences.

If the police have your reg they can check your car on the PNC and find out the keeper, MOT expiry date and named drivers on the insurance but regardless no other grounds are required to stop and check your licence and insurance details (s. 164 and 165 of Road Traffic Act 1988 if it's of interest...).
