Another Newbie and His Ride!

Featured Replies

Okay, so I've been mooching about clubpolo for a while, and finally decided to join.

I'm 18, and I've got a mk5 Polo for my first car, saw it on ebay and fell for it! So it's only a 1 litre (boo!) but it's all I can afford right now, I'm a full time student with no job.

I basically bought it as is.

Lowered 40mm and some ovely curbed alloys.

Badgeless grill and rebadged boot.

Single wiper conversion on the front, but soon fool removed the rear wiper. Looks nice, but gets dirty quickly!

First thing that was needed was a sound system. Got some inphase front speakers, and a couple of 6x9s in the back. They have some good bass to them!

I'm too cheap to buy new things, so I hit up ebay again, and got myself a Vibe Blackbox III amp and a Pioneer DEH-P70BT head unit.

I still need to wire the remote for the amp, there's nowhere on the headunit strangely, so I'm gonna have to do it to the ignition. I'll get photos of this some time soon once it's all installed right.

I then tinted the back lights a wee bit, they looked too pink stock.

Its got a few scrapes and dents that need sorting (first owner was a girl racer!, I'm the 3rd owner)but its generally in good cond.

Plans for it are to paint the edges or the rims either orange or red (let me know what you think) I want to sticker the car up, not sure where to put them though.

I sort of fancy doign a chequed roof (like those fiestas you get) but I'm not sure.

Anyway, here's a couple of photos (tell me if you cant see them, I'm new to this)

I'm not sure if I'm gonna lower it more, not yet anyway, got no money ): The raods are pretty rough here too, so we'll see. The sticker's probably gonna go, I'm wanting to tint the windows anyway.

Thanks, nowhere near as nice as the other cars on here but it gets me around

Plus the cars on here will be good inspiration for you :-)

Looks sound for a 1st!

The wheels idea is nice but u can only pull it off if you get the right shade of orange (exact opposite to your blue) and you lower your car

That's why I went for the orange. Shouldnt be too hard to get the colour right. And it's been lowered 40mm, wish I had the money for 60 or 80 :tear:

who the hell blanked that rear wiper?? looks like the 6n blank but on a 6n2??

thats a new style if i ever saw one!lol

tidy first car mate- coilovers needed!

Wow! Thanks for all the comments. Nice bunch of people you lot!

Anyway, bit of an update. Almost got my sound system all done and installed. Just waiting to get my ipod adapter lead, then the stereo is going in.

Had some trouble with the wiring, apparently V Dubs wiring for stereos is slightly different from most cars (red and yellow wires are opposite). I keep loosing the settings on the unit whenever I take the keys out the ign. I believe it's something to do with the constatnty live wire being connected wrong. Any help would be welcomed. I'll try and get some more pics up tonight.

All the feedback on my orange rims idea has made me want to do it more, all my mates thing its a great idea too. But a mate suggested I got some white tyre paint and highlighted the lettering. What do you guys thing? Could look cool, but then on the other hand it may look awful.

Thats all I've got for now, later guys.

There will be a red and a yellow wire coming out the back of the head unit. All you have to do is connect the red to the yellow and the yellow to the red. There's usually bullet connectors on there to allow you to do that.

Thanks, I thought I may have to do this, but wasn't sure. I emailed Pioneer to make sure. But you got there first

Anyway, got a few more photos as promised, had to make do with the ones I took becuase the battery died on my camera. :x

Vibe Black Box III

Great sound quality, especially when paired with these:

S6000911.jpg

Inphase 6x9s, amazing amounts of bass from them, almost no need for a sub. Have them hidden on the parcel shelf

S6000910.jpg

And one last final photo, need to get some quality ones somewhere other than my drive.

Would like it to sit lower, but money is super tight! Ignore the flaking trims. That was done by the first owner, really badly too, I'll get them off sometime and do it properly. Some people obviously haven't heard of primer!

Enjoy!

Bit of tlc and your onto a winner imo ^^.
