How on earth do you get the heater control unit out of a 6n2 dash?

The bulbs work on the window switches etc, but not on the heater controls.

i've been fettling with it for over an hour, and cant see any sign of the bulbs, or how to remove the damn thing as there are several plastic tabs for the screws in the way. You can push it back into the dash, but its impossible to rotate around and pull out.

This is all I can seem to get it down to.

Your wrong mate.

Basically heres what to do?

Turn the centre knob all the way to the left, squeeze it and it will pull out.

Behind that is a single L.E.D bulb, simply remove it and replace. You may need some thin tubing to pull it out as it's quite snug.

Mine has just stopped working this evening haha.

I fiddled with the bulb, it started working but I accidentally pressed it so now it's pushed back and clicked into place and doesn't work at all so I have the enjoyable task of trying to get the L.E.D out tomorrow which is quite difficult!

Quick question, could this apply to the 6N headlight switch? a bulb seems to have died and I tried taking the switch assembly apart, but I couldn't get the damn switch off. I got everything else out, just the switch was causing problems, grrr.

i always thought there was never a light behind there..so i can fit a red led and it will light the buttons up?

its just a plain white dash bulb - not an LED. Theres a red plastic surround around it that causes the dials to be red.

i tried doing mine today.removed all the screws and then changed the number dial to 0 and it stil wouldnt pull out?

There are no screws to remove.

Turn the centre knob all the way to the left, then squeeze it and pull. You need alot of grip and then it will come out.

Then get some tweezers and pull the bulb out, and replace it.

I found it way easier to put a tiny screwdriver down the side of the switch and prise it out. I got absolutely nowhere pulling it.

It does pull out, it just needs a bit of force. Best thing is to put some electrical tape around each side of some needle nose pliers and gently pull on it. Makes it easier getting the new one back in too.

Use tweezers or use some tubing to slide over the bulb and grip it.

I nicked some tweezers outta ma girlfriends drawer and had it out within a couple of seconds, but I've done it a few times before.

Don't be scared to squeeze them quite tight the bulb is quite strong.

after 2 weeks i finally gt it done.like tha light was welded in.took som genious thinkin with the tweezers and masking tape.loooks good tho in the dark

It's just an LED.

Just take the existing one out and then take it with you to a local motor spares shop and get a replacement.

Should cost 50p

Is anyone able to answer the question of how to remove the heater control panel as shown in the OPs post? I need to remove mine (identical to the photo in the OP) and no matter what I try it won't come out. Any help would be appreciated.
