6.5" in the doors and a tweeter mounted in a 3.5" mount in the dash

no rear speakers or wiring as standard and no provision for them either

so they have the worst standard sound system going then?

so if you want some rear speakers is it a case of picking the wires up on the back of the stereo and taking them to the rear?

i put a nice head unit in mine replaced the door speakers with some nicer but still cheap ones and replaced the tweeters with some 4 inch speakers and it sound nice tbh unless you really want big sound there is no need to do more then this to the car

i will be adding a nice big kit to the car at sum point with sub and stuff but you can do it very cheap and still get a good sound by just replacing the speakers and having a nice head unit

Iv just recently taken all my sub out, just left me head unit which actually stays out the car now due to me already being broken into :(, new door pod speakers and it sounds all right not much base but for the amount of time i drive in the car (which aint alot its fine)

so you can squeeze some 4'' in dash? i was going to put some in the rear in the boot in a box or soemthing maybe, got some awesome clarion 6x9's (yeah i know they're 6x9's but anyway) which are just like a half ddecent 12'' sub

guessin theres no chance of 6x9's in front doors?

you can fit anything anywhere as long as u cut it all up lol

but yes 4" fit in the dash bit of a squeeze but they fit

and tbh just upgrading to the 4" in the dash makes the hole car sound so much better

I'm sure my mums old polo, same year, model etc as mine had rear speakers either side of the parcel shelf?

Mate nothing wrong with 6x9s sod what everyone else thinks, as said above i was thinking about maybe squeezing some 6x9s in the front door pads but I'm sure even if i did cut to size or what ever the vibrations going to be terrible.

okay, well let us know if you try it then.

i think 6x9's are fine tbh, mine produce a lot of bass just for speakers & are plenty loud enough with no amplification

of course, they do with good unit and good speakers and good quality speaker wire, but now with out any sub i do feel abit empty.... but least my Headachs have stoped from the bass lol

lol, i just like crisp sound, a lot of bass is nice sometimes, but for the space u lose having a sub its not worth it for me:)

right, wondering if anyone can help me here.

the plugs for the origional tweeters in the dash have two wires into each terminal on the plug? why? and they seem more powered than the front door speakers, i havnt had chance to stick a multi meter on and check etc, but does anyone know why there are 4 wires for 2 terminals?

thanks

I think the speaker output from the headunit it wired through the tweeter and then to the door speakers, hence the two sets of wires and the capacitor

ah i see, so basically the door speakers are piggy backed off the tweeter.

ill have a play around later, cheers

i stuck the 6x9's in doors last night, and sounded dreadful. i guess thw wiring is rubbish or somthing, they weouldnt perform as they should at all. need to have a major rewire i think!!

shouldnt need 6x9s i mean if you want loud volume do what iv done lol 4" in the dash they fit perfectly sony explods i thinks standard nasty door speakers as I'm broke and dont have enough for nice ones and iv jacked some pioneer tweeters straight onto the wire for my dash speakers and i have a sub and tbh its as loud as i want it for now... just an idea... :)

Good headunit, Components upfront, sub in boot. Both amped. Simple.
