Bast**d Dealers

Sorry if I waffle on abit, I'm just seriuosly pissed off rite now!!!!

So I found a car for sale that seemed to tick all of the boxes so decided to take it one step further by making that call to find out more. After a lenghty chat with the owner of the car All seemed perfectly well and the addvert had been backed up!

During the conversation I kept on insisting that the chap should be completely honest with me as I was going to have to get a train down to go pick up the car at the cost of £42. He insisted that there wasnt any rust or any damage to the overall car, all down to the fact the car was a low milliage one owner from new car!!! From what he had said/promised me and from what I had seen in the ad I was convinced the car was the right one for me.

So I set off this morning for the over 4 hour journey starting early on the bus then several trains. I finally reached my destination to see the car. As I approached the car all seemed well, but then i got that bit closer and was horrified. The seller had blatently lied to me over the phone, the rear panel was rotten, the arches shot and what he said was a small un-noticeable mark tuned out to be a scuff the lenght of the quarter panel!!!! Yes the car did drive nicely and run sweet but the fact that all of the other parts where so bad i couldnt take it, also he said the car had a full service history, now that was the biggest lie!!!

I dont know how important you guys/gals think the history of a car is but I see it as paramount. So this full history managed to only last till 1996 hmmmmm hardly 2009!!! Not only that the milliage on the stamps didnt make sense, going up to 32k and then seemingly going down to 11k

Anyway I've had enought of ranting now, I'm £95 out of pocket and extremly pissed off!!

Just to add if any of you are dealers I realise you arnt all Bastards but you are out to make your share

I dont find that funny tbf I spent £95 to sit on a train for like 8 hours and a bus for about an hour, hardly a day out

All that and you haven't told us what car it was?

Gutted though dude. Where was it, id have taken you to see it for less than the train ticket lol.

He probably thought you'd cave in and buy it after travelling so far for it.. they can be bastards though...

Clicky

cant trust no one simple as..

I've been looking at £10k cars and some peeps post like one blurry pic , lets face it these days everyone owns or can borrow a decent camera...if you cant get out and take alot of decent pics to show the buyers then theres something to hide imo

you can tell when a salesmen is telling lies...their mouth moves!!

shit dude, you mean the main dealership on the london road?

they are very unhelpful in there most of the time, each time i go in there no ones on the parts desk & they dont take you seriously it seems

nah not the main dealer josh just a small dealer

should have given him a slap...or reved the bollocks off the rusty little shitter, ragged it about on the test drive and then got back on the train home...

is it me or all the main vw dealerships do that they treat you like shit make you wait ages ,rude and unhelpful. i think vw should start impolying people that give a shit and know what they are talkent about .

you should have test driven it to the train station

Nope, they have a;ways been really good for me in Wolverhampton. They know there stuff there too.

The bloke there let me have a look on etka to see how some bits when back together. Even offered to print it off for me lol.

Just dealers really, you've been lucky with what you have bought so far and tbh they don't give a dam about how far out of the way you have travelled.

Just a lottery really I'm affraid :-(

I feel for you having to do battle with the train system too!!!!

I once spent like double that viewing an old beetle but it was a private sale.

I asked all the right questions and asked for pics of everything (which he even photoshopped!!!!)

So i went to Warwick from Leeds by train. I didn't expect it to be perfect but from what he told me it was a good runner, which was safe to drive home, wasn't rusty and was in daily use.

When i got there...... oh my life. Rusty as shit. Paint was awful (photshop trickeey). Drove it down the road it struggled to get 20mph and when you broke it pulled into the opposite lane. He had left the sale in his parents hands......hmmmm wonder why?!?!? I asked his dad to take it for a drive and to see what he thought...... he came back looking very sheepish indeed. His son called up to see if i had paid and gone in it. His dad said no and i could hear the guy going mental. What did i expect from an old car?? I expect to buy what was advertised, but it was all lies. Complete waste of time.

Lesson learned though.

i had to get 9 trains in total, was absolute bollocks

Gutted for you dude :(

I sppose as hopy said it is a lottery - and at the end of the day dealers dont really care how much youv spent going down, or how far youv travelled.

Shame tbh :(

gutted for you dude

Hard going man, I never trust dealers myself, unless I needed to arrange some finance or something through them.

Soooo glad you didn't get a bready though :)

dam that sucks man :(

but like has been said, tis the game we play

on the subject of VW dealers, in fairness the guys in the Cardiff one are all sound aswell. and its not like they arent into their dubs, there are about 2 / 3 Mk1 Golfs always parked up, one being a mint black Karmann Cab and also a bitchin Red Mk2 with R10 Turbos.
