Any mathematicians out there?!

Hi chaps, should be easy for a budding mathematician.. I have 400 tyres I'm collecting and need to work out floor space needed so I can arrange it with a freight company. diameter of largest tyre is about 25" so based on this what floor space in metres squared or whatever will I need. Assuming they are stacked 7 high.

If anyone can answer this they are amazing.

based on all the tyres being stacked 7 high you are gna need 57 stacks of tyred

based on all the tyres being 25", 11 stacks long = 7m 77 tyres x 5 sort stacks = 385 tyres

based on all the tyres being 25", 5 stacks short = 3.2m

thats what it will look like sort of lol

Well. you'd be best off saying there stacked 8 high.

400/8 = 50

50x25 = 1250insq. (taking into account you stack the tyres next to each other not diagonally)

x12 = 104 ftsq. convert to meters squared.....

If my maths is right. 9.66x9.66 meters. Or 10x10 if your round up.

But my maths could be wrong :lol:

I'd still have a go on carol though, remember when I spotted her in marks and sparks in Bristol.

400 / 7 = 57 full stacks of 7 58 stacks in total.

25" x 58 = 1450" long (side by side)

1450 x 0.0254 = 36.83m long (side by side)

If you tell me the dimensions of your warehouse, I would be able to tell you the meters squared you would need as this information would be needed to know how many rows of tyres you could fit.

But basically, the first calculation shows that you would have to have 58 stacks of tyres, one stack would not contain 7 tyres, all the rest would.

The second calculation works out the overall length of the tyres stacked side by side in a row in inches.

The third calculation converts this into meters.

HOWEVER

I considered a simple theoretical placement where you place them in a row of ten with a column of 6. This assumes that you have a warehouse 6.35m wide and 3.81m long.

150" x 0.0254 = 3.81m down. (6 stacks)

250" x 0.0254 = 6.35m across. (10 stacks)

3.81 x 6.35 = 24.1935 m squared (The floor space you would need for this arrangement.)

400/7=57.14

57x7=399tyres leaving one spare.

if you have 3 rows of 19 stacks of tyres you need roughly (rounded up for ease) 2mx12.5m which is 25m2

You have 400 tyres, divide this by 7 (stacked 7 high) will mean you have 57 stacks.

Diameter of a tyre is 25", which is 0.635m. So the floor space required for 1 stack would be 0.635m x 0.635m = 0.403 metres squared.

So for 57 stacks, 0.403m x 57 = 22.9 metres squared. So rounding up, you need 23 metres squared floor space :-D

Well I realised this, but I assumed instead of having 1 stack with one tyre, just make one stack 8 high. Perhaps I should have mentioned this, just though it would have been common sense, never mind.

if we assume stacks must be no more than 7 high (therefore 58 stacks,) the space is square in shape, and the tyres are 25" in diameter, then the floor space required is

If we disregard the 1 tyre stack as ashj90 suggests but maintain that the space is square then the space required is
