spray gun and better paint would give a more even finish and thiicker coat...if you can borrow one or rent one

Cannock ey

I may be able to do it for you at college one night if the car is all prepped and ready to go straight in the booth.

Drop me a PM and we can discuss if you like.

I'll be doing a build thread soon, matt black with rattle cans, its not as easy as people make out. Also, how the fuck do peple do full cars in like 6 cans? must be uber thin or shit finish cos i've used 3 on my bonnet (including underside) and wing mirrors alone!

yes it is :?

i used 8 cans to do this, the only time it got more paint was when it got dirty, i just quickly masked it up and gave it another quick coat to get it looking mint again and save me having to clean it 8-)

i just gave it a quick rub over with some scotch bright, masked up the windows then gave it a coat of red oxide (that was the colour i was going with to start with till i saw how shit it looked lol), then just used 8 cans of matt black on it.

i'm currently painting my scirocco matt black one panel at a time as i sort the rot and bodged filler repairs on it to give me a solid base for the proper colour its going, if the weather's good this weekend i should get a good amount sorted and i'll be posting photos up in my build thread if you want to have a gander. i'll be using a lot more than 8 cans on this but only because its only costing £1.39 per can

after a couple of weeks though it loses the shine that mine had in the photos above and goes like this

just so you know there is a difference between matt black and satin black (its just you mention matt in the title and satin in your post), matt is much duller and satin has a shine to it.

this is satin black, also done with about 8 cans

Dont really like that man. Not feeling the Badboy look , just lost all the retro VW-ness but each to there own , we cant have everyone looking the same. As for the matte black paint, i suppose it would grow on me and if maybe you had spent abit longer on it and maybe laqured it? suppose you would loose the matte look but it may have looked better.

just thought id let you know as its not as easy as everyone says.

its a piece of piss,it cant be fucked up unless you just stand 2inch from the car and hold yer finger down

Tell that to the shit patchy finish on my bonnet the first time i did it  admittedly it was my first attempt at spraying and almost definitely down to bad technique, but i'm pretty sure the original poster hasn't done any before...

the patchyness could be down to the weather conditions

I was in the garage and there wasn't much wind if any, maybe there was some silicone in the air or summat, fuck knows, it turned out better this time anyway.

if its damp or cold is what i meant mate that can effect paint,or even too warm

I know its a Micra, my mates micra but just t show you - this is Matt black with rattle cans. Simply sanded it completally down, to get all the laquer off. (Excuse my spelling) Then wiped down to get all the dust off, then sprayed over.

Before - proper badly done red paintjob, it'd been done with a brush I swear on one side.
