boot central locking problem

Featured Replies

hey,

on my 1998 polo 1.4cl, the boot locking is strange.

i know if you leave the lock in one position it works with central locking, and the other doesnt, and then you can open it manually with the key.

the problem is,

when the boot is in the position to open with central locking, when you unlock the car with the doors, the boot unlocks, but when you try to open it, it feels as though it kind of tries to release the catch, but doesnt, so it wont actaully open, although it will occasionally.

there is resistance like its going to open, so its not like its just in the locked position.

any ideas?

thanks in advanced

take the panel off the boot (philips screw and pull from the window end) check the rods are all ok!

found the issue, the vac pump was pushing the rod too far and it was slipping past the boot handle lever. sorted it with a stop on the vac pump and works a treat :)

I have the same problem, could you provide the picture of the stop?

Or how you did it here:

right, you see right at the bottom of pic, there is the goldish coloured arm with the black link.

i fixed a spacer about 15mm thick onto the inside of the boot (attached to metal) and this restricted how far the arm could move with vac pump. if i remember ill edit your pic/take one of mine once I'm home!

cheers

woohoo, please do! It's been bugging me for months now and I never got round to fixing it. Although I can imagine how you've done it, it never hurts to have more info.
