Has anyone got any tips on removing badging from paintwork?

The "I" from my rear mounted GTI badge has faded!!!

What i used, was a old credit card white spirit and water, soak the I in white spirit then slide the credit card underneath it and bit by bit prise it off, you need to keep appling white spirit/water. Id the paintwork has fadedunderneth then t-cut is the tool for the job!

get a kettle boil it and just pour it all over the badge then credit card and peel off usually itll just peel off leaving no gluey nastiness... this is what i did =)

Yeh, Don't use this method as it can fuck up the paint/lacquer on your car. Use WARM water, not boiling water, water you can put your hands in comfortably would be the right temperature.

ahhh i dint know this lol sorry mate :\ dont listen to me haha altho i done this on my car and its fine... did it to my rear badges and bump strips

On older car's it's worse, especially on gloss paint with no clearcoat, takes the colour right out of the paint and makes it fade, you can polish it back to normal, but it's not good for the paint!

And of course if you use this method to defrost your car in the morning in winter it can shatter/weken glass, as i found out!

so theres a patch of creamy white paint on my door and I'm guessing its hammerite as it was covering up rust so how would i get rid of that mate?? pour boiling water on??

No lol. Sand it back, remove and treat the rust, skim of filler over, flat back, prime and spray the door.

ahhh and how do i go about spraying?? use rattle cans?? dont need no show perfect shine jus want it to shine again :)

Yeh, if you're not overly fussed on imperfections. Go to your local bodyshop and get them to make you up a rattle can with the colour of your car in if they do it, otherwise you can get them from a lot of online shops. You will probably need to lacquer it as well, I'm not sure weather gloss Polo's use a clearcoat or not.
