how to un-seize them ??

as above and give them a good old rub with a wire brush........if all else fails get them in a vice.

white grease is good and some wurth lube is good stuff

Buying WD40 ain't throwing money away, it will come in handy!

A bit of brute force helps stuck adjuster rings.

white grease is good and some wurth lube is good stuff

what the hell.......it aint like an angle grinder mate, gota get all the grit and that out the threads.

did it on mine worked fine and still got all the threads :-)

Wire brushing is good.

It's not going to wear down the threads. It just gets inbetween them and polishes them up so they look new again.

a wire brush is abit harsh for doing it on the threads, best cleaning them with a less harsher brush really

like i said, did it on mine and cured the problem

You wanna get of dirt and grime that's almost bonded to the strut you need a wire brush.

It's not going to wear the threads down, I've been doing it for 2 years on my FK's, and they're fine and have never seized.

I'm just raising questions as i want some coilies but need to be cheap so they will probz need good cleaning bit of tlc like??

once you doe get them un-seized put a little bit of copper grease on them to stop this happening again.

Just get decent ones in the first place.

I always keep them greased up anyway, best keep them nice and fresh!

The cheaper ones are more prone to seizing though, that's the only concern I'd have...and the ride quality.

Make sure you get coilovers with 2 adjuster rings as opposed to one. Must easier to maintain and adjust especially when seized.

Coilovers are adjusted by moving rings up and down the thread.

Most coilovers have 2 rings you lock together, and some have just the one ring, which you secure with a grub screw or something.

The one's with 2 rings are easier to maintain and unlock when seized.

I've never looked into the Philj coilovers as I don't tend to buy cheap

Erm, I wouldn't use WD40? It's not a penetrating oil, therefore it's shit at unseizing things! You want PlusGas or something, something that penetrates and loosens corrosion, not a lubricant/cleaner!

WD40 does work though.

Often all you need is a bit of lubricant between the actual rings to help them slide past each other and unlock.

I suppose it all depends on how badly seized they are.

Perhaps, but using a proper penetrating oil will work 10 times better. WD40 is nothing more than a cleaner and very very light lubricant. Using to unseize bolts etc is wasting money, when you could use a cheaper product, that does the job so much better!
