So after 2 months of searching for a car and being let down, turned down and dissapointed. I found the one I wanted! After a long drive from mine (Poole) to Tonbride Wells near London, I found myself the proud owner of this..

Then, it arrived home like this;

Thanks to a small argument it had with the back of my dads car on the way home... >.<

Well anyway, I think I'm going to buy a new grill panel and sort that front bit out.. Then after that I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with it.. Definately get rid of the FOX stickers on the side and boot, install some sort of music playing system then levae the rest to my imagination!

I'll keep posted here what I get up to.

Ha, yeah was a bit of a bummer but everything works still so no worries. As soon as payday comes around I'll get the new panel and get it on and clean :)

In the meantime..

My brother bought me some waterproof black seat covers, and pink shoelaces to hold the parcel shelf up haha, I put in some air fresheners and then took the Fox sticker off the drivers side and took a couple of photos..

Then I tried to take the Fox stickers off the other side and the back, but it left a kind of indent in the paintwork - it's not residue, and looks like someones resprayed the section but left the sticker.. Anyway I'm going to spend a bit of personal time with T-Cut and sort it out..

Then, just as everything was going seemingly well.. I took her out for a drive and when I woke up the next morning, I found this..

Nice little fuel leak.. Grr!

Looks like it's from a pipe, not the tank which is good in a way, but also surely there shouldnt be fuel in the pipe?? It looks pretty rusty under there to me as well, but guess thats because the car is 15 years old..

Still, big plans once I sort this out.. :)

put a fivers petrol wherever you go and park up on curbs, drivers side and you'll be reet! lol

Haha, yeah I guess that would work. I'm guessing the pipes arent too expensive though..? :S

it's probably worth buying a new tank

i think they're between 50 and 70 but just as good ones go on here from time to time a bit cheaper

and it depends on whether you wanna be welding around petrol lol

Looked a very clean polo. Shame about your little 'incident'.

I got the same effect when i removed the foxstickers from one of my old cars. Was residue from the glue used to attach the sticker.

The fuel leak could be from one of the pipes coming from the inline pump. Can be prone to perishing after a while and isn't exactly hard at all to fix. Think you have to remove the rear axle to get the tank out so I hope it's something simple.

Meanwhile, I've been to the garage and it's the filler pipe, which means a whole new fuel tank :( So the front panel is on postpone til next payday now..

see if someone on here breaking a mk3 has one. It'll be cheaper than what the garage source and could be equally as good.

Garage will rape you for labour aswell as getting the tank off is a bit of a bitch. Looks pretty tidy though mate. As Jon said above try sourcing one from a car being broken on here, shouldnt cost u more than about 20 quid!

Yeah, but is it hard to put on? My brother thinks he can get some ramps to put it up on, and hes pretty capable but no-one in my family is a car expert or anything..

They're usually tack welded in place but if you dont have a welder, cant weld, a screw/nut & bolt will do. They're not weight bearing apart from keeping the front bumper in place iirc.

Buy yourself a Haynes Manual! Will show you how to do it in there. Ramps are all well and good but you'll need to have the offside rear wheel off, and have a good amount of room underneath the car.

Just chilling around today and painted the back badge black (Try repeating that quickly :) )

Going to paint the rubber behind it white so it contrasts better methinks..

Also, got a friend coming round to check out the wiring for the head unit on sunday so I'll hopefully have sound soon

10 minutes with pliers and leccy tape soon sorted it..
