What ever came out of the factory is best suited for the car.

If you buy expensive coilovers they would be better then the cheaper ones.

Ta technix collies are alright if you dont mind a stiffer ride.

FK AK's are a much better ride quality than TA's, they don't go as low though

I have FK Highsports, as I'd never buy cheap coilovers. The cheapo ones are more prone to seizing aswel!

very true, you get pissed off with the car driving like shit and chucking you all over the place after a while, gets pretty annoying when your CD keeps skipping with every big jolt as well

I've been on this forum a lot longer than you have.

I've seen which coilovers seem to keep cropping up with problems.

That still doesn't support your theory. AFAIK, both sets are made from galvanised steel struts with aluminium adjusters, overtime they will both seize if not looked after. Maybe people with FK coilovers may look after them better, as they cost more so they don't want to see their investment seized solid after a few months of use. I know people who have used Raceland and similar coilovers with no problems with seizing at all. Also, I suspect there are more cars out there with TA technix, Raceland, etc coilovers on, because they are cheaper, thus you might see more threads about them?

sorry mate but you said they don't fail, mine failed so hard i had to savage one of them with a massive screw driver, a hammer and a shit load of wd40.

i had cheapo coilovers and they never seized yet they looked fucked. i think the guy is right about more people having them to be honest : /

Coilovers that are made from the same material, using the same processes will be just as likely to seize as one another. I'm not supporting either crowd, just looking for a valid point to this statement, as it seems a bit informative to me.

To be honest, if you are slamming it, any coilover setup will be the same.

My car is lowered front end as much as it can be bar a chassis notch so I can hardly complain about the ride quality as I only get tyre flex.

However, I never find it that uncomfortable that I can't go on a long journey or get annoyed doing one.

I find it quite comfortable and keeps you awake sometimes

It's not as bad as people make out to be honest, for the money you're paying.

You do sometimes get the feelng that you look like a right nong bouncing up and down in your seat though when driving past people.

To be honest, if you are slamming it, any coilover setup will be the same.

i've got fk's on my jetta all the way down and the ta's on my rocco that were quite a bit higher, the ride quality on the fk's was so much better than the ta's.

Don't get me wrong the ta's are great if you want your car touching the floor or if your on a tight budget, but it really is like driving a car with metal bars instead of shocks

Although I'm on springs and shocks and not coil overs. I recommend getting the more expensive ones.

Its the same theory with springs and shocks. I have the cheapo kit from PhilJ and my god its horrible. You bounce around all over the place and you feel like a right fool haha.

I'm now upgrading to the much more expensive H&R kit as I've had enough now lol.

If you just want lowness and don't care about comfort then get the cheaper kit. But if you want some form of a comfy ride then go as high as you can afford.

I'm not saying you cant live with a cheap kit though. I drove to the ring and back on Phils' kit and i survived

by the sounds of it a few people on this sight are a bunch of pussies

yerr its stiff but its not that bad! coilies are coilies & no matter what you get, even if there the pricey sets your never going to get anywhere near the comfort of standard suspension lol

also depends on wheels & tyres, that can effect the ride too dont forget
