Featured Replies

Its jsut a quick one about the 10 month acceleration plan offered by some insurers!

Does this count as a FULL year driving, if so after the 10 months will i recieve a full years NCB?

Just been looking at some insurance quotes for a mk3 GT for when i have a yrs NCB. Still coming up as around £1300 with alloys n lowerage declaired (Bell cheapest so far)

Also, other insurance brokers i should have a look at?

Cheers,

Shaun

The companies that offer these 10 month / bonus accelerator schemes claim to give you a full years NCB at the end of each term however they are not universally excepted by other insurers. My company have accepted them in the past but not everytime.

Ok, cheers, any past experience on this anyone? what companies do accept it?

I take it Bell, who offer this, will accept it as a full years NCB upon renewall?

Bell will accept it, it's the reason they offer it so that you're more likely to renew with them.

I have looked at these and although the lump sum that you pay is smaller, if you divide the total amount payed into months, often you will be paying more per month on an accelerator than with a normal 12 month policy. However if you pay all at once just wanting to gain NCB quicker and are willing to take the chance :smirk:

Hmmmm, still thinking atm, getting a range of quotes. cheers. yeah i was thinking that about payin more monthly. but then means ill have NCB quicker,

so, cheaper rate on renewall? hmmm... i duno! haha we'll see when it comes to it. :D

cheers for info guys!

I am currently on a NCB accellerator

I asked at the end of it if the no claims was usable else where. They said the certificate would just be like the one i got after 12 months

I made them put this in writing before i took the policy out

I'm on one tooo. Mines with admiral which was the cheapest i could find and comes with legal protection and all that rubbish :)

Ah cheers, will have to check admiral, just got a quote from the Flux.

£1100 ish on a mk3 GT with wheels n lowerage declared, i thought this was goooood :D ( 18 and 1 yrs NCB )

With admiral, i got insurance for £1200 on a 1.3 spi aged 19 with 0 years no claims, all mods declared (lowered, wheels, bodywork, respray and transmission).

Thats with a DR10 and a 16 month driving ban. Which is way more than i thought it would be.

Less i mean. Haha. Was just a typo. Yea i was expecting to spend at least £2000. Although they may just be competitive with convicted drivers. Worth giving them a try tho.

I've done this once, and like people have said, some companies wont accept the ncb. another thing to consider is that it normally works out more expensive than taking 12 months cover out.

its worthwhile if your in your first couple of years driving, but otherwise i would say its false economy
