i was pretty sure it was just a straight swap, i have a stainless manifold by accident, bought the wrong bloody one, so that can go straight on.

use the 1.6 16v gti bottom end with the 1.4 16v head for a bit more power

exhaust has developed a HORRIBLE rattle, theres either a bit of cat dancing about in there or the back box and pipe have come loose =[

thats what i'll be doing tomorrow

which scrappy you on about then?

Norman Marshalls.

was there the other day, found a few engines that looked ok but no 16v ones =[

you can also do a 1.6 16v from a GTI (6n2).

that is pretty much a straight swap...

just a different motor mount, and an elecronic throttle .

last time I checked, there were two of these motors on Ebay for a grand or so.

i can highly highly recommend it!

Sounds good!

i think i want a 1.4 purely for the suprise factor =]

plus it wont affect my insurance.

whats in yours?

rin's is a GTi engine mate.

I'll give you my valver engine if you pay for a 225bhp 1.8T and for it to be fitted into mine ;)

hahaha, well if i could afford that i' get it in my own car =]

how much would you sell the valver for?

or could you recomend a good price to pay for one?

The 1.4 16v will affect your insurance because it is still a more powerful engine and you'll still have to notify them.

Engine or car ??

Well its not for sale, although if i'm offered the right price, I might be persuaded to part with her !!

  • Author

nah i dont fancy another car, cheers for the offer though =]

i meant the engine but dont worry about it.

i know for a fact there is a 18t engine at norman marshalls scrappy near me, i'd stick in in me car if it was a straigh drop in!

theres a few valvers up for sale in the forsale section, just get the whole car so that youve got all the parts youd need

It WILL affect your insurance, what the hell gave you the idea it wont!?

just sell yours and buy a 16v 3 door and strip that

 kinda hard to sell it now

yeh lol, oh well.. its going to be part of the fun.

and at least this way you will have the chance to have the engine out of the car where you can do whatever you need to it before it goes in. and you will learn fuck loads then, when you have to put your own engine in. proper project like.
