ok i know this is probably the oldest question out there..but i kinda need to know asap. as my mum said the insurance company I'm currnetly with will not pay out a penny because my suspension has been 'lowered' :p

i was wondering where i would stand if i did have an accident..

if it was your fault then youd be screwed insurance would be void refuse to pay out and i think u are personally liable for the damage and any injury so tell you are insurance company ASAP! i dont know if someone crashes into you though...

Remember what I told you about when my mate crashed his car without mods declared?

It was equal fault though so I'm not sure if that's the reason nothing happened.

It all depends on the insurer and the circumstances, as they might not even come and look at your car.

You don't drive too often mate so I'd do what we said before and get insured and then add the mods on afterwards.

Most people don't declare them anyway. You have to declare headunits, no one does that.

You would have to declare de-badged grille and clear indies/reps aswell, shit like that i take it.

Is just getting out of hand, just like health and safety in this day and age is rediculous.

You have to declare stickers in your window aswel.

You also have to declare alloy wheels, even if they are standard on your model but you didn't have them before, but then you put them on at a later date they need declaring.

I'm TPF&T.. and my policy says..

Modifcations:

Alloys Wheels (non-standard)

Suspension (lowered)

Exterior bodywork changes

Interior changes

Lights (non-standard)

And i didnt get charged for those.. i rang up saying do you need to know what the exact mods are in case i need to claim for theft or anything and they said no..

It depends on who you insure with really.. there are companies out there who specialise in modified vehicles and will not charge for cosmetic mods. If you are planning on modifying the car, it pays to pick you insurer very carefully. Just going onto a price comparison site and going with the cheapest company is not usually the best bet!

Through working on car club forums, I really have seen some horror stories with people not disclosing mods and having accidents.. on the other hand I have been surprised to read a few people who have non-declared and have got away with it when they have crashed.

Also, just to confirm, yuo should declare every change to the vehicle from when it left the factory.

Thats the way to do it. i am with Brentacre and they know literally EVERY mod on my car.

ha! i love declaring mods... ringing up telling them aboout stupid things... If they are going to make me waste my time ringing them up about stickers... then sure as hell will i waste theres!!

i havnt told everysingle last detail, like my new wheels whores sticker etc lol but tesco were really good. women i spoke to was very helpful...

however i think when the 1.8t is dropped in brentacre will be my choice
