Yes you can but you must have the correct license and depending on the weight,it's Class 1,2 or 3.

thanks lads i'll try them companies on monday, I need it to pick up some stuff from Germany, I need something I can fit about 400 tyres in, I've just got a normal driving license I'm 23 been passed for about 5.5 years. Kerrly u down with taking a trip to Germany :)

wont be able to rent one u have to take a new test use to be able to do it on a old car one about 25 years ago

maybe a sprinter van is you are best bet there canie long

At work recently we loaded a box van with 6 trolly's of plants on it and the driver just had a normal car licence, he got weight at the ferry at just over 4 tonne, lucky they aint the Police. If he had been pulled over and put on the scales the Police would have bum raped him.

You should be right though. I have Cat 'C' on mine.

A Standard Full Uk licence will allow you to drive anything up to 3.5T E.g a 'Box Luton Van' you can also drive sprinter SWB and LWB. Pretty much any van tbh! Only time it changes when it gets to 7.5T + and you'll know when your in them because you'll have a Tacho machine right in front of you!

Normally yes, but they've seen the way you drive so you've been restricted to polos for the rest of your life. If you're lucky, you can get a Ford Escort again :p

We wont rent to anyone unless they provide us with a copy of there operators licence,i imagine this will also be the case with Dawsons,Ryder etc. Also you will need your heavy goods licence for 7.5 and above.

Also most truck rental firms require the vehicle to be on your own insurance as companies isnt provided. As a guide price we rent 7.5t box's/curtains for £55 a day and go all the way upto 26t and tractor units.

Another thing to consider is that 07 onwards hgv have digital tachographs which require a digital tacho card but you also need one of these cards (must always carry it) to run an anologue vehicle in case VOSA stop you

£200 a day lol..

Our 7.5t are £250 a week,,tyres and maintenance are normally covered on contract unless damaged by the customer.

Oh yeah and we require a £750 deposit which is refunded on dehire.
