£200 a day lol..

Our 7.5t are £250 a week,,tyres and maintenance are normally covered on contract unless damaged by the customer.

Oh yeah and we require a £750 deposit which is refunded on dehire.

1 day hire is alot, but adding more days doesnt cost much,

hes is thinking about transporting tires in the 7.5t, not paying for the tires on the truck XD

It wont be more than £250-£300 for a week (most dont charge for wknds)

The truck rental market is on its fucking arse and there are plenty of other hire firms out there willing to rent if prices are too high.

Anyway dude try Dawsons,Salford,Ryder,Hill Hire etc, I work for BRS but as i said we wouldnt rent without an O Licence.

Cheers R1CH that helps out.. I'd need it for 2 days, literally the time it would take to go to Germany and back. I've found a guy who might be willing to do the run for me, he's got a full HGV class 1 license and has 28 years experience in the game.

R1CH what do you reckon would be the most suitable vehicle for picking up these tyres? Looking at roughly 24 sqr mtrs floor space based on the tyres being in stacks of 7.

From what i can remember our 7.5t are between 6-7m in length and around 2.5m high so i imagine youd get these in providing there not truck tyres! Also try and get a box rather than a curtain side for security, plus these will have tie rails in the sides.

I imagine your mate will have his Digital Tacho card,,if not he wont be able to drive anything 56 plate onwards..

Get a 10T just incase. Nice size lorry without the overhang of the 18T which can get iffy at junctions when watching out for other vehicles.

I generally find the back end trying to kick out when giving it beans quickly whilst turning in reverse and it can creap out or overhang on two lane junctions.

They do go quite well, only driven Mercs and Renualt but the frog thing was 5yrs old and on 800k so didnt have the legs anymore haha

they must be damn good tyres to go to the hastle of collecting them from germany!

15hrs a day max 'work' or shift and 10hrs max driving. Over 2 days they have 30hrs in total and 20hrs total driving. Make loading the tyres a break even if you are loading it (I know its illegal but lots of us do it).

Just say the route is London- Berlin:

Leave London 08:00 and have a break on the ferry you would still need another 2 in Germany (You should have 45mins every 4.5hrs and another 15mins after 9hrs). I reckon with some speeding you would still need another 3-4hrs the next day to get to Berlin. Probably with the ferry to will max out the 15hr shift so you stop at 23:00. You cant move till 8:00 again as you must have 9hrs off work.

You will make Berlin before 12 and whislt loading you have your break, just say it takes 2 hrs to sort everything out. Leave Berlin at 14:00 have another break at 18:30 after that you have another hour probably left driving so you stop at 19:30. Probably best to start your 9hr break then. You start at 04:30 to get to your ferry in the next couple of hours. And after a break on the ferry you get back to London on your next 4.5hrs, job done in the afternoon.

So its 2.5 - 3 days depending on rule breaking. Stuff like if its a 60mph single road dont do 40mph go 50+mph.

lol ye i'd love to take a van myself but can't get enough goods in the back so it's pointless, last weekend from 7pm to sunday morning i went on a bit of a road trip.. nottingham to folkstone, eurotunnel to callais, then to paris, drove through belgium, rotterdam to amsterdam, chilled there for a bit checking out the local attractions :) then back to callais. 1500 miles in about 48 hours lol

My main guy can no longer do the run :( I've asked a few other people though so hopefully should know tomorrow, one guy wants £15 per hour.. which on top of fuel and ferry prices works out a lot!!

At work recently we loaded a box van with 6 trolly's of plants on it and the driver just had a normal car licence, he got weight at the ferry at just over 4 tonne, lucky they aint the Police. If he had been pulled over and put on the scales the Police would have bum raped him.

Would if your 3.5 tonne van weighed 4 tonne and your trailer was within it's own limits.

Also worth bearing in mind that you need a tacho for a vehicle and trailer combo in excess of 3.5 tonne (eg 2 tonne van, 2 tonne trailer) if it's for commercial use.

Been working out the route - dover to calais, from there it's roughly 500 miles to where I'm picking up in Germany or 7.5-8 hours. with that in mind even with a tacho i'd imagine it could be done over a saturday/sunday right?

Where are you starting in the UK? And where are you going in Germany?.

I might have time tonight to use the lorry route planning software at work to figure out the tacho issues.
