Doing up my mk3 at the mo. Have just got some new wheels (1979 Scirocco gt 14inch with 175x65 R14 tyres). Trying to decide how much to lower it by, dont want it too low as loads of speed bumps on my road, just enough to make it look and handle a lil better. Will be buying new shocks and springs, unless someone has some decent 2nd hand ones for sale. Any recommendations for make of shock and spring?

Depends how much you've got to spend.

Tyres are too big - you'll have scrubbing issues on the front just 40mm down. If not with standard height.

ok bud. will have to try the wheels at standard height and see if they do rub. if so then looks like new tyres for me.
