picked up 2 pairs of steelies from the scrappy for a tenner the other week. The two pairs are different , i think one set is from a golf and the other from a corsa think it will look pretty good plus its different, both have an ET of 33 and iv got a set of spacers which will make it 23 :-) so wll be quite pokey, not too much though. i first had to get them sandblasted becuase it would of took a decade to sand them. Got them back yesterday and got started on spraying them. First did them in white primer , then grey primer and then a couple of coats of laquer. Think there gonna be going white soon tho!, might pick up some gloss white.

So many better colours than grey primer.

£10 a wheel mate, its an awsome finish when they go down from coarse to fine. And much quicker than sanding lol, iv got the black VW centres to go on them. Think they should look pretty cool.

No offence but why did you choose grey. grey aint even a colour its a shade lol?

If i had standard steelies i would have done them in a fluescent colour,

I know you say your going for the standard look but i've never seen a car with grey steelies before!

No offence, but why spend money on an odd set of steelies? Will ifferent wheels front and back really look any good, or just wrong?

Not my cuppa tea. Surely standard look would be black or silver. I've never seen a car come out of the factory with grey primer wheels.

there not finished yet lol, there not staying grey, just how far iv got with them. Think there gonna go white. I'm not gonna spray them a bright colour because I'm not a big fan of it tbh, and when i say poke i kind of meant just standing proud of the arches 6" wide with an ET of 25 should be enough for me.

i think you should just lacquer them up and leave them gray (or at least trail fit too to your car while they are grey and get a photo). i think grey could work really well if your cars a fairly bright colour, its a total the opposite to the current trend of ''look at me'' wheels and being different from more standard looking colours like black, silver or even white but still remaining slightly under stated

you will probably have issues fitting the vauxhall wheels tho as they have a slightly smaller center bore, my mates just bought a golf with them on and he can't get them off, apparently the lad he got it off had to hit them on with a hammer lol. if your spacers are not hub centric though you could just fit the vauxhall wheels on the rear with the spacers to get around this. the 10mm spacer won't give you poke but they should get your wheels sitting more level as on the early polo's the fronts stick out further than than the rears

yeh thats exactly what i bought the spacers for mate, And i found that there fiat not vauxhall, but they look bang the same , there from a chinky quento , look very nice sprayed up. And about the colour mate, i no what you mean , I'm not feeling the bright colour but its just my opinion, also my cars tornado red, My pic is a drawing of my car, i hope they will look nice , and also sit pretty flush with the bodywork.

They're fine as along as they're torqued up properly. Wheel bolts do not hold the weight of the car nor does the spigot, it's all about the friction between the hub and wheel mounting faces.

And EXACTLY correct mate about the friction between the two mating faces , all the centre is for is to actually cente the wheel,dont no why people think that its that the hold the wheel in place, Why would they sell flippin plastic spiggot rings if they were that important?

As for the wheels they went on fine.

Yes but spigots ensure that the wheel is on the hub concentrically..which is quite important if you actually want to drive your car without constant wheel vibration..

Its not gonna matter when the bolts are on though lol , its the bolts that hold them concentrically. Think about it , when you put a set of propper VW wheels onto your hubs, The centre bore isnt an interference fit as in that it so tight you have to hammer it on. It slips on nicely, Meaning theres probably half a MM clearence all around, if your wheels move enough whilst there on that the centre bore hits the middle of the hub, Would you not be scared? The centre bore is meerly just to locate the wheel.

But when using wobble bolts can you be sure you have them centred correctly due to the fact that they allow a few mm deflection?
