Its hard to work your MPG if you don't know how much fuel you've used. What you need to do is fill the tank to the brim and reset your trip counter. Use the fuel and then brim it again. Your trip counter will tell you how many miles you've done and the petrol pump will tell you how many litres you've used.

Then use this to convert it into MPG

hahaha dont worry mate, i did'nt mean it in a bad way to you, its just mpg is such a hard thing for people to understand and judge

As heartagram said thats the only way to measure it, anyone who says "i got XXX from £10 of fuel" it can not be accurate

lol this post has gone the way i thought it would

A couple of weeks ago my car got infinite MPG going from Bath to Trowbridge. Powered by a Diesel tow truck and a nice man called Steve.

Prove it,or you're lying. ;)

He drives a 1.4TDI - so 60mpg isn't really surprising.

my tdi mk6 golf regularly averages over 60mpg, so in a polo, he's defo not lying.

Been a few long clear stints so well chuffed with over 60, it's not like I drive with a light foot either!

Few folks have said they've got over 70mpg out of these engines but I don't think I could ever drive it that slowly, ha ha.

i get about 25-30mpg out of my 1.4 8v 6n :D

I have one word for each of you......BROKEN!!!

Oh and to the originator of the thread, providing the price of fuel is around £1.05 your getting about 38mpg, so your car isn't broken haha, but again its very hard to tell mpg without briming the tank, drive 100 or so miles then brim it again.

its got a scorpion mid and backbox exhaust and a K&N so i gues that will bring it down.. only used to get around 30-35mpg out of my old 1.0L 6n
