yeh i dont really race i just gun in the national speed limit zones :ninja: i haven't been out with him yet hopefully he will still have his learner head on and stick to about 32 everywhere lol

yeh i no talking about driving insted of fuel economy no one will no :paranoid: lol

Most I've done is racing away from the lights on a dual carriageway against my mates 1.25 Mk4 Fiesta (~75bhp), sort of a 0-70 race. Not sure about the legality of it but we don't put anyone in danger.

this is it i have no issue with breaking the speed limit because at the end of the day if I'm on my own then I'm putting only MYSELF at potential harm... i do funny things like get next to police at traffic lights and blast off in first gear get to 30mph n then stick it in fifth haha they cant do nothing cz i aint broken speed limit in front of them haha just accelerated ratha quickly haha

'Due care' is probably going to be the element of law they'd claim you're offending. But i believe you were paying more attention than most drivers in the area that day.

anyway.....

we got just over 165miles to £20 of unleaded from the mk4 which i suppose isnt bad considering the journeys each day it does.

Yeah I'd probably get done for it although I'd never exceed the speed limit... and that is true, someone on the same bit of road nearly ran me off into a tree because they cut into the left lane when we came to a roundabout. Coppers never seem to pull them over moan grumble.

Back to fuel consumption:

I love Diesels. I spent almost 4 hours driving around Bristol on £4 worth of fuel.

My mk2 1.8 weber carb'd golf can get 38, my 1.0 mk3 polo gets 40, waiting on my GT engine- apparently, they're better...

Worst I've ever had?

My '66 beetle with a fooked advance... got less than 8MPG and a top speed of 30mph...

it was literally throwing neat, unburnt petrol out of the exhaust..

that was broken!

now in the bug i can match the golf...

Aww I want a bug. With a Diesel engine. :)

i no longer have my polo as it is basicly written of so this thread is now useless to me HAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

I get about 35-38mpg in my GT on average, thats with me driving it like a granny normally and on the odd occasion someone annoys me or I get a nice stretch of twisties I floor it, so not bad overall (cars been overfuelling like a bitch too recently  ).

My mate and I were in his mum's BMW auto tonight and were getting really worked up by some woman in a ford, she would drive at 40 in an open limit and then 40 in a 30, plus everytime she say a slight bend in the road or oncoming headlights she's brake. We weren't the only ones pissed off by her, there was a guy in a rover that pulled up next to her at the lights as we were waiting to turn right and he floored it around her and turned right just to get ahead of the que

i just wanna say I've always used shell it seems to get that extra bit of poke and mpg!!! my 1994 rover 214 sei k series was the best example it'd done 150+k if i put anything other than shell innit it was just old and crap but with shell i killed alot of bigger cars, most noteably my friends mk5 xr3i 130bhp model and another m8s honda accord sport on a 2002 plate lol SHELL all the way for me, ill never use BP after hearing about some one filling up there and getting a tank of water honestly, and supermarkets just cheap crap!

^^ I use Shell because its cheap, have rarely noticed a difference between 95's apart from poor running on Total once, but i used an Esso garage in Aylesbury the other day and it felt noticeably better. That too was 95,as i can run on it at the moment.

I think its as much to do with the site as the fuel, and i wanna get an ethanol detection kit (maybe the alcohol cards for drinks would work).

before i took my G40 of the road it was really poorly and popping flames and petrol out the exhaust like no ones business and i managed a respectable 20 miles to a tenner now in the :ninja: shitroen saxo 1.1 I'm driving i get about 90miles to a tenner.

It all depend's on where and h;ow you drive. Parker's say i should get around 30mpg but i can just touch 40mpg due to sensible 100mile motorway journy's in 6th gear :-D

18 around town tho :-(

Parkers gives a combined figure though and sometimes their info is a bit iffy on car details.

40mpg on the motorway sounds about right if its the Type R you on about.

If you take the 40mpg motorway and 18mpg town and get an average it works out at 29mpg so it works out right.
