Bangers4BEN

Featured Replies

So me and a guy at work will be competing in Bangers4BEN, a Top Gear inspired challenge to raise money.

The idea is drive a £250 Banger from Ascot to John O'Groates and back to Mercedes-Benz World, Surry (Around 1500 miles).

Working at Land Rover we managed to bag a 1984 Series 3 (see pics below). After some minor adjustments we managed to get he top speed upto around 60mph, so should be a long journey.

At the end of the rally the cars will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to BEN and the winner is whoever sells there car for the most minus what they paid for it.

BEN is the automotive industry charity, providing care and support to employees and their dependants in times of need. www.BEN.org.uk

There is 26 teams taking part in total and we are all seeking to raise as much as possible.

Sounds really good fun, would love to do something like that.

It's missing a shocker and pedo bear sticker(s) on the back though. ;)

Sounds awesome. Top speed of 60mph will be a long long journey. :D

Thats even ifg you do want to do 60mph in a series 3 lol. Will be taking up two lanes on the motorway.

Good luck, is it s 2.25 petty? Gonna use a lot of juice as well!

Yeah it was a 2.25 petrol. Broke down after 1054miles, true to Land Rover form. No bad thing tho, save our wallets!

I'm surprised it got that far :p Was it a good ride? i tried to drive one at work, and ex-ambulance, i couldn't even move it! My manly-ness took a beating that day
