Right so i took the helper springs out of my front coilovers on tuesday .. all seemed well until i drove it. the ride is ridiculously bumpy, any ideas why this is? #9i cut the bumpstops down aswell

It's because you've removed the helper springs. Suspension is designed to work with all the components fitted, not with some of them removed.

Not really no. Suspension is all about compromise. You can't have everything. If you want comfort and good handling you only go a little lower than standard. If you want lows then you have to put up with bag o shite handling and the comfort levels of a horse and cart.

Or get air ride.

It's little pillows of air on each corner of the car within the suspension with an air compressor and can in the boot. The more pressure you pump into the bags the higher the ride height.

It allows you to adjust the hieght of the car whenever you want at the flick of a switch from decked to 4x4 stance and apparently it also get's you the finest bitches.

sounds immense man just checked price n its £1799 for the complete set fitted :\ so i think in a couple of week i am gonna buy some ta technics =] LOL

my 6n2 suspension doesnt have the helpers in.... i was told on my kit i didnt need them and mine rides.... well shite :p.... but i know thats cos i wanted it low

Or hydraulics are the next option got my kit for cheeep and got it fitted for cheeeep

Will also fit a polo cause they have the same suspension setup

Which brand are you with now?

I'm on FK Highsports, and the ride is sublime, AND, I'm just as low if not lower than people who remove their helper springs on the cheaper coilovers.

Airride is the way to go.

Extreme comfort, and mad lows!

I'd love air, but I know I'd be a pussy with it and run it well high for driving and then just drop it when it's stood still.

Lots of things, the spring won't be able to sit right or secure, but mainly fucking up the spring rate.

I'd stay away from any garage willing to do it btw

hydraulics are fun have a good handling I've lumped my round castle comb with the hydraulics and it was fine

Not really, I'm getting an air ride installed in my mk6 due to the fact that i use it as a daily and speed bumps rape the car, makes more sense, although people say bags are for fags, btw I'm not getting into a debate here just, just saying that if u have the chance to purchase a Air ride setup at a good price id go for it, fully wound down coilovers + bumps = worried sump! Btw tony100, hydraulics look immense
