91 mk2 GTI 8v golf digifant

Featured Replies

As title says, just wanted to know what the period correct alloys would have been and the size/offset

Mine has some speedlines which have a certain 90's appeal but I would rather keep things standard.

I've heard that some GTI's of this period just had steels?

Think the 90' spec mk2 golf gti's came with 15" BBS RA's standard.

15" RA's were standard on the 16v.

8v could have been 14" steels, 14" BBS RA's. 14" Ronal R8's if you had the dollor back then. Probably other options.

Because teardrops, bottletops, p slots etc are all pre 90s.

How quick was that lol. Thanks

I reckon bbs RA's will probably be the way to go and also cheap too.

It seems that steels would make the customer pick something else like my speedlines...

I'd go the steels option for retro OEMness.

90 spec steels

Small bumper pre 1990 steels

I am on edition and club gti but just feel more comfortable on here. Whats wrong with talking about mk2 golfs in the general car chat anyway?

Thanks for replies, interested to see the bbs sammy.

I wasnt saying there was anything wrong, I'm just plugging the site haha

My 16v when i first bought it, didnt like the RA's tbh:

I've joined www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk now, seems friendly might well post something up if I can get any sort of momentum going with my golf.

I'm not sure about what wheels, see what comes up. Think early alloys wouldn't look right but am leaning to keeping the car totally standard.

Could paint those speedlines white?

I'm not being funny but you want to keep the car standard which is why you won't put RAs on but you will paint a set of non-standard wheels bright white?

I said I'm leaning towards standard. In all honesty it's the lack of budget. Doing something with the 90's speedlines might be my only option.

I'm not exactly in a hot spot for wheels where I stay either. I don't usually procrastinate on here and won't do in the future sorry.
