bonnet arms

Featured Replies

i have a mk2 squareback and i was driving down the A3 in the fast lane and my bonnet decided to un clip and fly up onto my windscreen. (it didnt hit luckily, just obstructed my view) so i now have a bonnet held in place by one arm and the clip at the front.

i have another mk2 and i want to know how to take off the arms so i can replace them on the other car.

anyone know how to take them off?

thanks.

The only thing that holds the bonnet closed is the catch

under the bonnet that you release by pulling the lever in

the passenger side foot-well.The large spring that's on

there to pull the catch back into place once the bonnet

has been closed can sometimes cease or just get old

and overstretched,so try spraying the catch and spring

with some WD40 or similar or replacing the spring.

If you have bonnet lifters fitted, they don't have anything

to do with keeping the bonnet closed whilst driving mate...

no whats happened is i helped someone with a jump start, the handle in the passenger side foor well is slightly stiff so i need to close it when I'm finished, i dont mind about that, but when the bonnet flew up, the arms that the bonnet is screwed onto bent backwards so the whole bonnet sits backwards.

is there a way of taking the arms off so i can replace them???

ok people i need help please as my bonnet isnt secure and my mot is in a few months. i need this sorted but i have no clue on what i will be doing!

can anybody tell my how i can take the arms on and off?

thanks

When you say arms do you mean hinges? If so take your car apart and have a look it's probably just bolts!

On a 6n there are just four bolts, two on the bonnet and two on the car, I'd imagine it'll be something similar...
