6n2 GTI - sub power cable and earth?

Featured Replies

on my last car, there was a hole in the engine bay, so you could run the power cable thru that, an it come up under the carpet - so you can run it through to the boot

just wondered where most people have wired there power cable for their amps?

at the moment its run from the battery, thru the wing n inbetween the gap inbetween the door, but obviously this isnt ideal

any one know where i should run it?

also where have you put you are earth?

cheers

I'm guessing you have a MK5.

There's a hole which leads into the car.

I have earthed to the rear seat belt mounts.

Not got a GTi but I run mine through a seal in the bulkhead, this is then run through the dash, down the side strips interior, under the trim in the rear. Out under the boot and plugs into my amp, as for ground, through boot carpet and connected to general ground point behind the left hand side boot carpet trim :)

open the bonnet and look in the passenger side firewall, thers a rubber grommet there. just make a slit in it with a sharp knife and feed your power cable into the car. simplez :)

bump

If you can't see it from outside look from inside the passenger footwell, as you look under the glove box it is to the right near the centre tunnel mine has the AC pipe there

Don't do what the idiot owner before me did, which was to just remove it all together to run the power cable which meant the day I bought the car and got it on the motorway I thought I had bought a complete lemon when all it needed was a £2 grommet :D

And for christ sake, make sure you get some good hard grit sand paper and sand off all the paint on any painted metal surface.

I've seen so many shite installs that I've had to fix because of the sub keeps cutting out or it's cut out al together all because the earth isn't on bare metal.
