I changed from hastings to them a few yrs ago. I pay £180 fully comp and thats with a "not blowing the bag" ( DR70 ) convicition that got me a 2 yr ban! Just to share some info regarding this DR70 code. It is not a DRUNK DRIVING OFFENCE and not regarded as a drunk driving conviction with insurance companys. Drink driving convictions stay on your license for 11 yrs. Them offence codes from DR10 - DR30 = 11 yrs. Offence codes from DR40-DR70 must stay on your license for 4 yrs FROM THE DATE OF THE ACTUAL OFFENCE ( NOT THE DATE OF CONVICTION IN COURT). But the DR70 all judges in court are recommended to impose a ban but it is down to the judges own discretion what punishment to impose. I'm just sharing some info that might be useful to anybody wondering about offence codes and how long they stay on you are license for and what is classed as a spent and un spent convictions. Try budget and see what they can offer you. I'm over 30 and got a full no claims so that always helps aswell. The conviction did not affect my no claims either. Hope this info can be helpful in some way to yu and others.

I hate this lol

Martin.

I get £2160 with them, might try again :)

TPFT was £1750, Getting cheeper,

Are you insured to drive other cars with that policy? That was the decider for me, I paid the extra so I could.

DAMN when i had my 1.4 polo at 17 in my own name was £1350 with Quinn direct TPFT and now on my BM 316 £950 Fully Comp I'm 19 with 2 years no claims

n when i got the BM at 18 only cost me £185 more on top of the £1350. Inusruance a joke these days?

Try getting all your family on direct line, they discount for more drivers in the same family. Kind of like admiral multicar but from my experience it goes cheaper.

Change your address to somewhere quiet and with a good area code then when you bin it, say you were visiting your parents.... :) Saved my girlfriend 600 when she moved to lanaster uni, may well go back up when she says she's back home though..... :(

No there not

And insurance is a joke, Why would i pay more than my car in insurance, id rather run the risk of having no insurance and only pay if i do smash it up or hit someone, Specially with stupid quotes like £3000-£4000 :?:?

Oh Well,

Well then you're an idiot tbh. Insurance will be more than your car at 17, because most 17 year olds get cheap cars and insurance is expensive as you are a high risk. We've all been there, so get over yourself

Insurance companies don't give to F's about you car. Change the price of what you car is worth, and i bet you see no change in the insurance quote.

It is all about what you are likely to crash into, they see you as a shit driver because you have just passed, so you garenteed to crash, not they just have to make sure they get enough money of you to cover something expensive that you crash into.

I think this is fair really, although i complained when i had to stump up over £2K and now have a life time loan with my dad, but thinking about it about 5 of my mates have not crashed, not all big crashes, just stupid little bumps, but still, since we are not in a sueing culture if all these people they have crashed into have claimed they have wiplash. You can imagine how much an insurance company is going to stump up.

/I'm done, now i wish i wrote that much for my coursework

I know I'm gona have to pay crap loads of money for insurance, But i swear it gets more and more expenive over time,

I'm thinking of doing Pass Plus too, up to 35% off n so e campanies i belive 8-)

CourseWork :lol::lol:

Or work for the co-op and you get a discount like me :D:lol:

i remember whining about insurance for us (male) youngsters, saying 'oh its so lame they put us all into stereotype groups just because we are young they think we don't know what we are doing' etc..

then i crashed!

luckily i didn't need to claim on my insurance, but that was due to circumstances beyond my control.. i could have easily caused thousands of pounds worth of damage and even injured / killed someone. but i still felt like i had just proved all the stats correct lol which was kind of sobering.

now i just take the hit when buying insurance (after shopping around enough of course). it is just a fact of life that insurance is going to rape you sideways if you are a young inexperienced male driver. not only because they can, but because in fairness so many people in that age bracket do actually make claims.

i've been insured on my polo for a year. when i bought my policy, i paid £1000 for a 10month accelerator. I was 19 and had 0 NCB.

This was with Admiral, and I defo recommend them!

I work at Morrisons,

Wish they did Car insurance :-D 8-)

I bet there's a fair amount of people who'd pay an extra grand or two to be 17 again

but yeah you're right it can be expensive...

I bet there's a fair amount of people who'd pay an extra grand or two to be 17 again

8-) so true aha

when i was 17 i paid 2k fully comp on a 6n 1.4 8v

went down to 950tpft at 18 with 1yr ncb on a grp 10 corsa sport 1.6, then 19 2yr ncb = 750 fully comp on a GT. and now at 20 i pay 850 fully comp on my bmw 318is

av just been getting quotes on cars when I'm 21 4yrs ncb and 3 points, with the hope that when i graduate I'm gonna live with my mum for a couple months rent/direct debit free and save haha

corrado vr6 = 772 fully comp but a mk4 r32 is still 2k and an e36 m3 evo somewhere in the middle of those 2 quotes. so annoying considering you know if you need to claim they will be nice people about it

I bet there's a fair amount of people who'd pay an extra grand or two to be 17 again

Hell yeah. who do i pay?

I find the biggest thing with insurance is where you live.

I'm 19, with 1 year no claims bonus.

Mk2 Golf GTi - £738 with Quinn

Edited by Matt Mk3loon

insurance top tip, say the car is on the driveway and NOT in the garage.

Knocked my G40 down from 3300 to 3000

they say its because they get a load of claims because people knocking things off their shelves onto their cars.

also add parents and other experienced drivers onto the policy as named drivers to bring it down.

edit: have you tried using a high voluntary excess as well brings it down a fair wack
