Insurance + Being 17 = FAIL :(

Featured Replies

^ Exactly, I you act like a idiot and speed it's not hard for your parent to turn the engine off.

Your more likely to concentrate on the road when your with your parents rather than when your with your mates.

i've always wondered why insurance gets more expensive after you pass?! No wonder so many people buy a car thinking they can insure it and then the minute they pass, they discover the truth.

On a provisional you must have someone with you.

Yep, but whatthe hell they gonna do apart from rip the handbrake up or rip the steeringwheel out your hand? if you're doingsomething drastically wrong, its not gonna be a happy ending!

So you are telling me that you currently drive/used to drive exactly the same when you are with your parents than when you are on your own or with friends?

Fuck me! Just got a quote of 1128 on an 2000 impreza sport. TPO, but its oddly cheaper than a polo?

Provisional?

I got quotes like that for a golf 130 gt tdi, i was going to buy one, then i found my mistake

hsbc ,full uk!

I wish i had a license now :/

Jesus, how are you like?

I wish i could get insured on something abit more powerfull, I'm wondering does insurance go down when i hit 18?

dont like to disappoint you..... but it dosent :(

no claims make the biggest difference, you'll be paying shitloads for insurance untill you rack some up

Yea, i was hoping hitting the 6 months barrier with no crashes might have made a difference, I want a diesel now, the 100 Sport.

I'm 23 now and mine costs £310 a year fully comp with 4 years NCB on a 1.4 8V with coilovers wheels, plus all lights , grille etc declared (believe it or not they count as modifications)...just have to wait a few years and insurance stops being a bitch.

Thats through adrian flux, who seem pretty good.

dont go with churchill or direct line... they dont alow mods at all... and if your really unlucky they will LIE and tell you that you can...and then wait till you actually bought the stuff and go to declare it and they change their mind... get everything in writing from the insurer would be my tip cos you cant trust them.

17 , 1.6 polo cl , coilovers , ats cups , body mods , boot build and i pay £1400 fully comp and i live in the murder capital of europe :)

Ouch, what method did you use to get those quotes?

I find GoCompare useful, since it is easy to change your details, so you can punt in several cars and find out what sort of price you are looking at. Without having to fill in the insurance forms loads of times.

But tbh, i doubt you are going to get a good quote for a 1.6, i think a 1.4 is the maximum for us 17 year olds.

well the GoCompare showed better prices but still they want around 800-900 pound for deposit and staff but well i see when i get my licence

You'll be better off with a 1l tbh Matty, although try looking at getting quotes for a diesel, they tend to be quite torquey :).

well if i will be getin a disel car it wont be vw :( , and the think is i wanna keep my polo well i see how it goes tbh

Get a Diesel polo. Not sure what the performance it like mind.
