Does anyone know where you can get colour match door handles for a 6n polo? I have seen quite a few polo's with them on now but can't seem to find anywhere that does them :S

Well I could do that lol, but would rather just get a cover which is what everyone else seems to have :p don't know.. I know there are quite a few chrome covers!

What cover? Just get a custom colour mix and take a couple of hours off and do it. remember, sand it down(if you want a very smooth finish, I wanted to sand down that bit where it's a bit rough, smooth as glass was my objective), wipe it off(good cleaning agent), plastic primer, flatten, colour coat(maybe give it two), clear coat, leave it to dry overnight in a warm place.

Oh ok... I think I just might try and paint them then , basically there are these covers which you just clip onto the outer door handle! But I can only find chrome one's!

I have only ever seen them in chrome and there low quality best bet is as previously said take them of and spray them easy as!

Just do remember that the paint will be soft a couple of days after painting and anything will put a dent it in. Just be careful with your key. If you have a remote you're safe. Also, I never figured out how to get the lock out without braking it, so I just masked it up and sprayed away.

No no no, you take the handle off. There's a torx screw on the inner side holding it on. Unscrew that, push to the front a bit and then pull it out. The following pictures are with a 6n2 handle that I have lying around :p.

so you have your handle out, you are faced with this:

So first thing's first, lets unhook the two parts:

Pull down:

and out:

Why do we need to do that? Because otherwise you can't get to this bit:

and the other bit on the top side. you can't get the paint all the way around.

Next, mask up the following bits, don't forget to take the rubber gasket/contact plates, you don't want to paint those, also, use masking tape to secure the hook into that position, otherwise the top end will slide back.:

you can do the sanding down and wiping off before or after the masking, as you wish. I suggest that you somehow suspend the handle in the air. I used some stiff, thick gardening wire we had lying around and had it hanging from some wood planks that were on top of our shed. After that, just paint as said before(do not flatten the paint, as you will just need to put on a new coat. don't worry if it's a bit matt, the clearcoat will give it the deep shine, JUST DON'T TOUCH IT WITH SANDPAPER) and clearcoat it. Do at least five coats of clearcoat. Don't rush it, don't put it on too thick or you'll have to wait a day and then sand it down and start again. Five coats is due to the relative ammount of battering this part will recieve, it's better to have one more than one too little.

And before you put the spring back where it needs to be, mask this bit up, or put something soft there, otherwise you WILL chip the paint and you will want to shoot yourself.:

there is a clip that goes round the barrel and then a spring comes out then another clip then you put the key in and pull it out ...

ps it looks weird seeing you handle with a finger hole bit as i've just smooth'd mine off ..

and also on the outside of the handle there is a ridge i managed to smooth it off with much rubbing down with 400 wet n dry haven't painted them yet but will be done soon

Followed this, and just did my own.. Can't wait to fit them!

or 6n2 door handles are colour coded and fit straight onto 6ns. or so I'm told
